On 30 July 2024, DTI Surigao del Sur, through Negosyo Center Cagwait conducted Basic Customer Service Seminar to 25 micro-enterprises in Barangay Bretania, San Agustin, Surigao del Sur. Said activity was initiated to capacitate the MSMEs in providing effective frontline service to ensure customer satisfaction.

Information materials on Consumer Acts and Consumer Rights and Responsibilities were also distributed to the participants to increase awareness of their rights and responsibilities as market catalyst in promoting sustainable energy sources.

The activity was part of the 2024 MSME Week Celebration with the theme: “Innovate to Elevate: Empowering MSMEs for Sustainable Growth”.

On April 24, 2024, DTI SDS through Negosyo Center Cagwait conducted Business Continuity Plan Awareness Seminar to 20 former PPG beneficiaries of Barangay Antipolo, Marihatag, Surigao del Sur. The seminar aimed to educate business owners on the importance of having business continuity plan as one of the measures to continue business operations amidst disasters.

One of the participants commented, "Salamat DTI ug hinaut na hamuk pa training ang maatinan nami para mahamok pa ang matigaman nami ug mapalambo pa ang kanami negosyo."

DTI-Surigao del Sur, through Negosyo Center Cagwait, conducted Entrepreneurial Awareness Seminar to 60 marginalized women beneficiaries of San Agustin at Barangay Oteiza, San Agustin, Surigao del Sur on 14 June 2023. The seminar aimed to provide the participants with the right entrepreneurial mindset.

Consecutively, Senior Business Counselor, Mr. Meljun Empic, conducted Techno Training on Dishwashing Liquid Soap Making. A training funded by TESDA aimed to build economic resilience through sustainable livelihood interventions. A starter kit was also provided to the beneficiaries to jump-start their liquid dishwashing business.

Hon. Mayor Nicolas O. Alameda, CE, MPA, extended his appreciation to the government agencies present during the program. The participants were also grateful, “Salamat kaayo sa inyo mga ahensya sa gobyerno kay inyo kaming gitagaan og pag tagad labi na makakt-on sa paghimo aning dishwashing liquid og pag hatag sa kaalam unsaon pag sugod pag negosyo aron kami maka income.”, one of the participants commented.

The activities were part of the 61st Araw ng San Agustin celebrations initiated by LGU San Agustin in partnership with TESDA and DTI.

Negosyo Center Cagwait conducted Financial Management Seminar to 30 micro enterprises on 26 May 2023 in Barangay Arorogan, Marihatag, Surigao del Sur which included five beneficiaries of the Livelihood Seeding Program – Negosyo Serbisyo sa Barangay (LSP-NSB). The activity aimed to level up the skills of participants in effective financial management and sustainability measures for their businesses.

Moreover, TIDS Rhosallee V. Espinoza of the Consumer Protection Division conducted consumer advocacy to promote awareness about the rights and responsibilities of MSMEs.

The participants, on the other hand, expressed their appreciation to DTI for providing information and made a commitment to do their part as consumers and business owners, and to apply the knowledge they’ve learned.

This initiative was part of the continuing assistance of DTI to the beneficiaries of LSP-NSB.

Negosyo Center Cagwait conducted Entrepreneurial Awareness Seminar to 78 TESDA graduates of Just-Hiro Rice Based Agricultural on 10-11 November 2022 at Just-Hiro Farm, Barangay La Paz, Bayabas, Surigao del Sur under the Skills Training for Employment/Entrepreneurship Program (STEEP). Said seminar was aimed at instilling the right entrepreneurial mindset among graduates to venture into business using the acquired skills from TESDA.

The participants were grateful to DTI for this activity. “Nice and the speaker has a wide knowledge about the topic ug nasabtan gayud namo kini and hoping for more trainings and seminar from DTI in the future”, one of the participants commented.

The STEEP agreement with TESDA is one of DTI’s initiatives to sustainably generate employment and promote entrepreneurship to push its ‘Trabaho at Negosyo’ agenda.

egosyo Center Cagwait conducted Business Continuity Plan Awareness and Digital Marketing Seminar to 18 new and existing MSMEs of Marihatag on 11 November 2022 at Marihatag Tree Park and Resort, Brgy. Arorogan, Marihatag, Surigao del Sur. TIDS Jan Lehven G. Mantiza presented the strategies in the preparation of a business continuity plan which is one of the measures to continue business operations amidst global pandemic or disasters. She also discussed the importance of digitalization in marketing products and services to better improve profitability among businesses. On the other hand, TIDS Rhosallee V. Espinoza of the Consumer Protection Division conducted consumer advocacy to raise awareness of the rights and responsibilities of consumers.

The participants were grateful to DTI for this initiative and were hoping for more interventions and seminars in the future.
