30 NABBED IN JOINT ANTI-ILLEGAL MINING OPERATION IN DAVAO DE ORO

The Philippine National Police (PNP), in coordination with the Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB) Region XI and other government units, arrested 30 individuals during a joint anti-illegal mining operation in Barangay Araibo, Pantukan, Davao de Oro on July 7.

Twenty-seven individuals were apprehended for alleged violation of Republic Act No. 7942, or the Philippine Mining Act of 1995, following the discovery of an illegal mining operation in the area. Authorities recovered approximately 128 sacks of suspected gold ore, a fabricated blower, jackhammers, chainsaws, generator sets, an inverter generator, and an Isuzu ELF truck, with an estimated total value of about ₱5.54 million.

During the operation, one of the individuals serving as a portal guard was also found in possession of a caliber .45 pistol.

Later that evening, while authorities were conducting the inventory of the recovered items, operating personnel received information about armed individuals onboard a white pickup truck approaching the area. A follow-up police response led to the arrest of three additional suspects and the confiscation of three fi****ms, ammunition, and other items.

All arrested individuals are now under the custody of the CIDG Davao de Oro Provincial Field Unit for the filing of appropriate charges, while the recovered mineral ores and related equipment were turned over to the MGB Region XI.

The operation involved personnel from the CIDG Davao de Oro Provincial Field Unit, Pantukan Municipal Police Station, Davao de Oro Police Provincial Office, Regional Mobile Force Battalion 11, Highway Patrol Group, and the Mines and Geosciences Bureau Region XI.

The successful operation is in line with the PNP Focused Agenda under Enhanced Managing Police Operations, which strengthens coordinated law enforcement efforts against illegal activities, while supporting the directive of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. to protect the country's natural resources and uphold environmental laws.

PNP Chief, Police General Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr., commended the operating units for their teamwork and swift response.

Nartatez said.

The PNP remains committed to sustaining intelligence-driven and inter-agency operations against illegal activities as part of its commitment to Bagong PNP para sa Bagong Pilipinas: Serbisyong Mabilis, Tapat at Nararamdaman.

The month-long operations, carried out through 935 law enforcement activities across the country, supported the PNP's continuing efforts to keep communities safe by going after wanted persons, illegal fi****ms, and various forms of criminal activity.

These initiatives form part of the PNP Focused Agenda under Enhanced Managing Police Operations, which strengthens intelligence-driven and coordinated police actions in support of the peace and order priorities of the administration of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.

Among the major accomplishments were the arrest of 606 wanted persons through intensified manhunt operations, including two National Most Wanted Persons with existing rewards, 109 Regional Most Wanted Persons, 141 Provincial Most Wanted Persons, and 72 City and Municipal Most Wanted Persons. Police operations also accounted for one leader and three members of a Communist Terrorist Group (CTG).

In the campaign against loose fi****ms, authorities carried out 49 search warrant operations and 42 buy-bust operations, resulting in the recovery of 156 small arms, nine light weapons, 24 explosive devices, and assorted ammunition.

At the same time, intensified operations against economic and environmental offenses led to the confiscation of counterfeit, untaxed, and substandard products, including ci******es, v**e products, food items, cooking oil, appliances, defective e-bike batteries, illegally sourced forest products, and other evidence from unlawful activities with a total estimated value of more than ₱605.8 million.

PNP Chief Police General Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr. commended the operating units for their sustained efforts in carrying out the campaign with professionalism and respect for the rule of law.

"I commend our operating units for their discipline and commitment in carrying out these operations. Every successful operation strengthens public safety and reinforces the message that the law will be enforced fairly and consistently. Hindi tayo hihinto sa pagpapaigting ng ating operasyon, but we will always do so with professionalism, accountability, and respect for the rights of every Filipino," the Chief PNP said.

The PNP remains committed to sustaining focused law enforcement operations nationwide while strengthening public trust through accountable and responsive policing, in line with the vision of Bagong PNP para sa Bagong Pilipinas: Serbisyong Mabilis, Tapat at Nararamdaman.

FI****MS SEARCH TURNS INTO ₱3.2-M CONTRABAND BUST FOR PNP, LIVE-IN PARTNER ARRESTED

The Philippine National Police (PNP), under the command of PNP Chief Police General Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr., uncovered 373 boxes and one pack of suspected smuggled cigarette filter rods worth ₱3,170,500.00 while implementing two search warrants for illegal fi****ms in Barangay Apopong, General Santos City, on July 3, 2026, resulting in a major anti-smuggling accomplishment and the arrest of the respondent’s live-in partner.

Operatives of the General Santos City Police Office, in coordination with other police units, implemented the search warrants for violation of Republic Act No. 10591. Although no fi****ms or ammunition were recovered and the respondent was not present during the operation, police discovered the suspected smuggled cigarette filter rods inside the property. The respondent’s live-in partner was arrested after the contraband was recovered.

Verification by the Bureau of Customs confirmed that the seized cigarette filter rods had been smuggled into the country. Consequently, criminal complaints for violations of Republic Act No. 10863, or the Customs Modernization and Tariff Act, and the National Internal Revenue Code were filed against the suspects.

The accomplishment reflects the PNP Focused Agenda, a transformation framework designed to make police service more responsive, accountable, and results-driven. Anchored on the key priority of Enhanced Managing Police Operations, the operation demonstrates the PNP’s commitment to maximizing every lawful police intervention by acting on all criminal offenses uncovered during legitimate operations, including crimes that threaten the country’s economic security.

PNP Chief Police General Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr. said the operation demonstrates that every lawful police action can uncover broader criminal activities that demand immediate enforcement.

"Hindi natatapos sa pag-implement ng warrant ang trabaho ng pulis. Kung may iba pang paglabag na matutuklasan sa legal na operasyon, pananagutin natin ang mga responsable,” he said.

PGEN Nartatez also emphasized that the PNP will remain relentless in pursuing all forms of criminality, including offenses that undermine the country’s economy.

“Our personnel are expected to act decisively on every crime uncovered during lawful police operations. We will continue to enforce the law without exception and ensure that those engaged in illicit activities are held accountable,” the PNP Chief added.

As the PNP intensifies its campaign against criminality, smuggling, and other unlawful activities that undermine national security and economic stability under the directive of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., it assures the public of its commitment to “Bagong PNP para sa Bagong Pilipinas: Serbisyong mabilis, tapat, at nararamdaman.”
