BKD Halalan 2026: Apayao NIAHS Elects New Officers, Classroom Leaders Take Oath

Calanasan, Apayao – February 2026. Democracy and youth leadership were in full display as the Barkada Kontra Droga (BKD) Student Organization of Apayao National Integrated Agricultural High School successfully conducted its School-wide Election of Officers. The event was marked by the active participation of BKD class officers from Grades 7 to 12, ensuring inclusivity and representation across all year levels.

The election highlighted the organization’s commitment to transparency, fairness, and service, with newly elected officers pledging to uphold the mission of BKD in building a drug-free community.

Assumption of Duties

The newly elected school-wide officers will formally assume their duties in the next school year, 2026–2027, ensuring a smooth transition of leadership and continuity of programs.

Oath Taking of Classroom Officers

In addition to the school-wide election, the Oath Taking Ceremony of the newly elected BKD Classroom Officers was also conducted. The oath was administered by the BKD Adviser, symbolizing the officers’ formal acceptance of their responsibilities and their commitment to serve their classmates with integrity and dedication.

Commitment to Service

Both classroom and school-wide officers expressed their dedication to uphold the BKD’s guiding principle: “Maging Barkada, Huwag Droga!” The election and oath taking reaffirmed the collective resolve of Apayao NIAHS students to stand united against illegal drugs and promote a culture of discipline, wellness, and community engagement.

In a proud moment for Apayao National Industrial and Agricultural High School (Apayao-NIAHS), Ms. Kyla Mitzcel Allag Bitagon, the dynamic Barkada Kontra Droga (BKD) President, has been officially elected as the Division Federated Secretary during the Division BKD Federation Elections held on August 14, 2025.

The event, attended by student leaders specifically, BKD Presidents from various Districts across the Division of Apayao, marked a significant milestone in youth leadership and anti-drug advocacy. Ms. Bitagon’s election is a testament to her unwavering commitment, eloquence, and passion for empowering her peers through meaningful initiatives.

🌟 A Leader with Vision and Heart

Known for her proactive leadership and dedication to the BKD movement, Ms. Bitagon has spearheaded numerous campaigns at Apayao-NIAHS that promote drug awareness, mental health, and community engagement. ANIAHS BKD Advisers and Student Leaders Join Online Orientation on Mandated PPAs

ANIAHS, Lower Calanasan, Apayao — August 8, 2025
In a proactive move to strengthen student-led initiatives and ensure alignment with national directives, teacher advisers and student leaders of the Barkada Kontra Droga (BKD) from Apayao National Industrial and Agricultural High School (ANIAHS) participated in the Online Orientation on Mandated Programs, Projects, and Activities (PPAs) for student-led organizations.

The virtual session was spearheaded by the Schools Division Office (SDO) of Apayao, in collaboration with the School Governance and Operations Division (SGOD) and the Youth Formation Division. The orientation aimed to equip student leaders and their mentors with updated guidelines, strategic directions, and compliance frameworks for implementing advocacy-driven programs within their respective schools.
Joining the BKD team were student leaders and advisers from other key organizations, including the Youth for Environment in Schools Organization (YES-O) and Supreme Student Government (SSLG)

These groups collectively represent the core of student leadership and advocacy in Apayao, championing causes such as environmental stewardship, youth empowerment, and drug prevention.

Moving Forward. With renewed direction and collaborative spirit, ANIAHS student organizations are set to roll out impactful, compliant, and student-centered programs that foster wellness, leadership, and resilience.

🗞️ Digital Poster Contest Culminates with Inspiring Student Victory at Apayao-NIAHS

Apayao-NIAHS, July 28, 2025 — The resounding success of the Digital Poster Competition held at the Computer Building of Apayao National Industrial and Agricultural High School left a wave of inspiration and celebration as winners were announced during the school’s Nutrition Month festivities. Spearheaded by Barkada Kontra Droga (BKD), the contest encouraged students to creatively express the theme: “Strong Bodies, Strong Minds: Fuel with Nutrition, Stand Against Drugs.”

🎉 Winners Who Rose Above
In the Junior High School category, digital brilliance and social awareness shone through:
- 🥇 Champion: Grade 10’s Pauleen Mea Cadag and Jay ABCDE Allag
- 🥈 First Place: Grade 9’s Zandrew Marvien Laguitnay and Mark Raffiel Addulam
- 🥉 Second Place: Grade 7’s Lance Jedd Darisan and Zidane Keiver Butel

Meanwhile, the Senior High School entries showcased conceptual depth and striking visuals:

Judges commended the students for their thought-provoking interpretations and unique storytelling.

The success of the event was made possible by a dynamic team of educators and organizers whose dedication transformed the contest into a meaningful celebration of student advocacy.
- Mrs. Jonalyn Andayan, serving as the Coordinator of the Nutrition Month Celebration, ensured that the activities remained aligned with the campaign’s goals while uplifting student voices.
- Mr. Edeleon Danggan, Mr. Ferrer Sucalo, and Ms. Angilee Agtang played pivotal roles as contest administrators, facilitating every step from logistics to judging with precision.

Digital Poster Contest Sparks Awareness and Creativity at Apayao-NIAHS

Apayao-NIAHS, July 28, 2025 — In a vibrant showcase of student creativity and advocacy, the Computer Building at Apayao National Industrial and Agricultural High School (Apayao-NIAHS) came alive today as the Barkada Kontra Droga (BKD) coordinators spearheaded the highly anticipated Digital Poster Competition. Held in celebration of Nutrition Month, the event brought together young minds to champion wellness and resilience through powerful digital art.

With the theme “Strong Bodies, Strong Minds: Fuel with Nutrition, Stand Against Drugs,” the contest aimed to promote holistic wellness by emphasizing the importance of proper nutrition for both physical health and mental well-being, Raise awareness about the dangers of substance abuse and empower students to take a stand against drugs through informed choices, Cultivate students’ creative expression and digital skills in visual storytelling that advocates for healthy living and Strengthen youth involvement in school-based campaigns for health, advocacy, and personal empowerment.

Participants channeled their talents into thought-provoking posters that blended bold design with meaningful messages. From fruits morphing into shields, to slogans echoing strength through smart choices, the entries reflected the students' understanding of how nutrition and drug-free living interconnect to build better futures.

BKD Digital Poster Competition is not just a competition, but as a movement. “It’s more than just digital art. It’s about inspiring commitment to a lifestyle that protects and uplifts,” said one faculty coordinator.

As judging continues, the hall buzzes with anticipation—but even beyond the winners, the true victory lies in how the campaign has sparked consciousness and conviction among students to fuel their bodies and minds with purpose.

Announcement and awarding of winners will take place tomorrow at the Calanasan Sports and Cultural Center, Poblacion, Calanasan, Apayao during the celebration of the School-Based Nutrition Month.
