Civil servants of the Municipality of Calanasan participated in the opening of the 126th Philippine Civil Service Anniversary (PCSA) on Wednesday, 2 September 2026, at the Calanasan Sports and Cultural Center, carrying the continuing theme, “Bawat Kawani, Lingkod Bayani: Puso, Dangal, at Galing Para sa Bayan.”

The kick-off began with the Lingkod Bayani: Fun Run, Walk or Jog in Barangay Poblacion, followed by the formal opening program.

During the program, guest speaker Dr. Krisma Grace Agustin, Doctor-to-the-Barrio assigned in Calanasan, delivered a purpose-driven message reminding public servants that their work extends far beyond processing paperwork—it is about genuinely making a difference in the lives of people. She emphasized the importance of serving with heart, honor, and excellence, issuing a stirring call to action: “Hindi para sa gobyerno, hindi para sa boss, pero para sa bawat Pilipino na umaasa at nagtitiwala sa serbisyo natin”—not for the government, not for the boss, but for every Filipino who relies on and trusts in public service.

Meanwhile, Municipal Health Officer Dr. Melchor B. Patal-e Jr. led the launching of the month-long health and wellness initiatives, particularly the Shape Up to Serve: Lingkod Bayani Wellness Initiative and Hakbang Lingkod Bayani: The 7K Daily Step Challenge.

Simultaneously, the Bantay-Vitals: The Lingkod Bayani Health Watch was launched, providing employees with free health assessments to be conducted throughout the month of September.

The month-long municipal celebration will include various activities centered on environmental protection, capacity-building, essential services, and employee health and wellness. These include a tree-growing activity; Pagsasanay para sa mga Lingkod Bayani: Disease Surveillance Orientation for Health Workers; a seminar on Republic Act No. 6713 (Code of Conduct and Ethical Standards for Public Officials and Employees); Employees’ Wellness Spa; Serbisyong Medikal para sa Lingkod Bayani: Gynecological Cancer Awareness and Free Cervical Cancer Screening; sports activities; and various friendship games.

Service desks from partner government agencies will likewise be made available to employees, including the Social Security System (SSS), Professional Regulation Commission (PRC), and Government Service Insurance System (GSIS).

The celebration will culminate with Zumba competition and indigenous games and Laro ng Lahi, a Videoke Challenge, and Pagpupugay 2026: Parangal sa mga Lingkod Bayani, which will recognize employees through the Employees’ Loyalty Awards.

Through these activities, LGU Calanasan seeks to strengthen camaraderie, promote employee well-being, and reinforce the commitment of meaningful service to the people.

A total of Php1 million in incentives was awarded to 85 farmers, fisherfolk, cooperatives and entrepreneurs under the Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) sector including one barangay during the recently held Agricultural Summit in the Municipality of Calanasan, as part of the Achievements Manifested through Management of Agricultural Yields (AMMAY) Awards.

The AMMAY Awards is an annual and regular program of the Local Government Unit of Calanasan, through the Office for Agricultural Services, which recognizes the achievements and contributions of farmers, fisherfolk, and entrepreneurs by providing incentives in various categories.

The term “AMMAY,” an Isnag word for rice, was chosen not only to represent rice farmers but also to symbolize one of the country’s major staple crops.

The award categories include Best Farmer Cooperative/Association; Best Corn Farmer; Best Rice Farmer – Upland and Irrigated; Best Livestock and Poultry Farmer – Small and Large Ruminants; Best Vegetable Farmer – Lowland and Highland; Best Agroforestry Farmer; Young Farmer Award; Best Integrated Farm Farmer Award; Best Coffee Bean Producer; Best Innovative Processor; Best Industry Worker – Abel Making, Basket Weaving, Soft Broom Making, and Blacksmithing; Best Wine Processor; Best Fishery Farmer; and Best Agricultural Barangay.

Beyond recognizing outstanding agricultural achievers, the AMMAY Awards also aims to foster farmer relations, promote appreciation for agriculture, celebrate the adaptability of the local agricultural sector, and raise awareness of agribusiness opportunities.

To qualify as an AMMAY awardee, nominees must meet the established eligibility requirements, including good moral character, full-time farming, practice of integrated farming, non-affiliation with the Department of Agriculture (DA), a law-abiding record, non-use of banned chemicals, cooperative membership, good credit standing, and proper farm documentation.

Each awardee was nominated by officers of the Municipal Agriculture and Fishery Council (MAFC) and Barangay Agriculture and Fishery Council (BAFC). The nominations were thoroughly documented and assessed by the OAS based on the established criteria for each category.

Among the awardees, Barangay Tanglagan was recognized as Best Agricultural Barangay, receiving Php100,000 in incentives.

In the cooperative category, three cooperatives received Php30,000 each: Tanglagan Multi-Purpose Cooperative, Eva Nagbiag Agriculture Cooperative, and Cadaclan Farmers Agriculture Cooperative.

The remaining awards and corresponding incentives amounting to Php10,000 each were presented individually to eligible winners in their respective categories.

The Local Government of Calanasan, through its Office for Agricultural Services headed by Municipal Agriculturist John Paul M. Sabado, hosted the 2026 Agriculture Summit and launched the Kadiwa ng Pangulo program on Friday, August 28, at the Calanasan Cultural and Sports Complex.

Anchored on the theme "Cultivating Today, Sustaining Tomorrow," the activity was attended by local farmers, municipal officials, agricultural technicians, and agricultural regional experts.

During the summit, Provincial KNP Focal Person Gladys A. Campos presented the Kadiwa ng Pangulo Program, outlining its strategic frameworks and direct market opportunities designed to connect local farmers directly to consumers and maximize profit margins.

To support sustainable land management, Eleazar D. Burgos of the DA-CAR-RFO Regional Soils Laboratory led a practical session on soil sampling and analysis to help farmers optimize crop yields. SB Secretary Dean A. Abagao also discussed key municipal ordinances governing local agriculture and fisheries, emphasizing policy frameworks that safeguard local producers and community resources.

On the organizational front, Veterinarian II Dr. Reah Vivian M. Piagan presided over the election of officers for the Federation of Livestock and Poultry Organization, where Mr. Alvin Sinoleng was elected President to lead a unified body advocating for the interest of the sector.

Additionally, with the launching of the Kadiwa ng Pangulo program, local farmers, cooperatives, and micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) were given the opportunity to start selling their farm-fresh and processed products in lower prices in a steady and direct place within the municipality.

The Kadiwa ng Pangulo program is a flagship program of the national government implemented across the country to address rising food costs, support local producers, and promote the “buy local, eat local” advocacy.
