CALANASAN, APAYAO - Hundreds of volunteers, students, and local leaders gathered across different barangays in the Municipality of Calanasan on September 20, 2026 to join the global observance of World Cleanup Day. Armed with gloves, trash bags, and a shared commitment to the planet, teams cleared streets, parks, riverbanks, and coastal areas of accumulated waste and litter.

Beyond clearing debris, the campaign serves as a powerful reminder: environmental protection is everyoneโ€™s responsibility. We urge the public to sustain these efforts by practicing proper waste segregation, minimizing plastic use, and keeping our surroundings clean every single day.

Officials and personnel of the Local Government Unit of Calanasan and National Line Agencies (NLAs) in the Municipality of Calanasan participated in a tree-growing activity held today at Sitio Sibang, Barangay Naguilian, as part of the celebration of the 126th Philippine Civil Service Anniversary (PCSA).

The activity also anchored to the local adoption of the Luntiang Pook Bayan initiative of the Civil Service Commission (CSC), an inter-agency environmental initiative that promotes biodiversity conservation, ecological restoration, and environmental stewardship through the establishment and management of tree sanctuaries nationwide.

Anchored on the โ€œPuso sa Serbisyoโ€ subtheme, the initiative encourages government employees to actively participate in protecting and nurturing the environment as part of their shared responsibility in nation-building.

More than 500 seedlings of narra and various fruit-bearing trees were planted during the activity. The planted area will be regularly monitored and maintained by the LGU through the Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Office (MENRO) to ensure the continued growth and sustainability of the trees.
