Bringing local legislation closer to the constituents it serves, the 24th Sangguniang Bayan of Calanasan conducted its Monthly Mobile Regular Session on August 17, 2026, at Barangay Namaltugan, Calanasan, Apayao.
The session was attended by eleven (11) members of the Sangguniang Bayan with the Honoroable Florante T. Parandit elected as Temporary Presiding Officer through votation, while the Vice-Mayor is on official leave of absence, pursuant to the Body's Internal Rules of Procedure.
Various essential measures were deliberated, adopted and enacted upon during the session, as follows:
1. A Resolution fervently requesting the Hon. Eleanor C. Bulut-Begtang, Lady Representative of the Province Apayao, the filing of a bill seeking to amend and/or rectify RA 10955 entitled โAn Act Dividing Barangay Dumalneg in the Province of Ilocos Norte Into Three (3) Distinct and Independent Barangays to be Known as Barangays Kalaw, Cabaritan, and Quibel.โ
2. The 2026 Sangguniang Kabataan Annual Budget of Barangay Tanglagan, Calanasan, Apayao, which was deliberated and acted upon.
3. A Resolution reactivating the MLGU Calanasan Time Deposit Account No. 2251-0100-59.
4. The review of Barangay Ordinances of Barangay Naguillian, particularly the Comprehensive Solid Waste Management Ordinance and the Ordinance Institutionalizing Road Clearing Operations in the Barangay.
5. An Ordinance establishing the Municipal Integrated Cancer Control and Patient Assistance Program of the Municipality of Calanasan, Apayao, providing for its implementation, funding, and other related purposes.
6. An Ordinance providing for a Mental Health Care and Development Wellness Program for the Municipality of Calanasan, Apayao, creating the Calanasan Mental Health Care Council (CMHCC), defining its duties and functions, and appropriating funds therefor.
Following the formal legislative proceedings, the Sangguniang Bayan also took the opportunity to interface, listen to and accommodate concerns raised by the officials and residents of Barangay Namaltugan, allowing the body to gain a more direct inputs and understanding of the issues and needs of the community.
