The Dumangueรฑa Responsible Irrigators Agriculture Cooperative (DUMRIACOOP), now known as Dumria Irrigators Cooperative, traces its roots to the Dumangueรฑa Manaile River Irrigators Association, Inc. (DUMRIA), which was organized on February 10, 2010, and registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) as a non-stock, non-profit organization. Over the years, the association received valuable grants and support from various government agencies, including the Department of Agriculture (DA), Philippine Center for Postharvest Development and Mechanization (PhilMech), Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), and Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD). These contributions significantly enhanced agricultural productivity, expanded livelihood opportunities, and improved the overall welfare of its members.
Today, Dumria Irrigators Cooperative stands as a symbol of unity, resilience, and progress among the farmers of Dumangueรฑa, Narra, Palawan. The cooperative remains dedicated to uplifting the lives of its members through sustainable agriculture, environmental stewardship, and value-adding agricultural initiatives. In support of the 7-Point Strategic Policy Agenda of the National Irrigation Administration (NIA), under the leadership of Administrator Engr. Eddie G. Guillen, the cooperative actively promotes irrigation efficiency and agricultural development within the community. Its vision reflects a strong commitment to financial independence, sustainable growth, and long-term prosperity for its members.
The cooperative was born from the collective initiative of local irrigators who recognized the importance of a unified organization in addressing common agricultural concerns and improving irrigation management. A major milestone in its development was the conduct of the Pre-Registration Seminar (PRS) on May 9, 2025, held in Narra, Palawan. This activity laid the foundation for the organization of the cooperative by equipping members with essential knowledge of cooperative principles, governance, and operations. Guided by the leadership of Chairman Jibsam F. Andres, the group formally pursued cooperative registration, marking its transition from the Dumangueรฑa Manaile River Irrigators Association, Inc. to what is now known as Dumria Irrigators Cooperative.
Like many emerging organizations, DUMRIACOOP encountered several challenges during its early stages. These included limited financial resources, the need for capacity building among members, and adjustments to organizational systems and regulatory requirements. Farmers also faced irrigation-related concerns, fluctuating agricultural productivity, and environmental challenges that affected farming operations.
Despite these difficulties, the cooperative remained steadfast and resilient, united by the shared vision of improving livelihoods and strengthening sustainable agricultural practices.
Through determination, cooperation, and collective effort, Dumria Irrigators Cooperative achieved a significant milestone when it secured its official registration with the Cooperative Development Authority (CDA) on March 10, 2026. This recognition affirmed the cooperativeโs compliance with the provisions of Republic Act No. 9520 and its implementing rules and regulations. Following its registration, the cooperative steadily expanded its programs and services, including agricultural input distribution, lending services, rice and palay trading, and farm machinery rental. These initiatives contributed significantly to improved irrigation management, increased farm productivity, and enhanced income-generating opportunities for its members. More importantly, the cooperative strengthened solidarity among farmers and fostered a culture of cooperation, accountability, and shared responsibility.
At present, Dumria Irrigators Cooperative continues to grow as a model of community-driven empowerment and sustainable agricultural development in Palawan. Its journey demonstrates how unity, proper guidance, and strong leadership can transform challenges into opportunities for growth and progress. As it moves forward, the cooperative remains committed to supporting the mission of the National Irrigation Administration and contributing to the advancement of the agricultural sectorโproving that through collective action, rural communities can achieve lasting development, resilience, and prosperity.
