Hosted by the Municipal Government of Pinamalayan, the Oriental Mindoro Market Administrators Association (OMMAA), a DTI-initiated and assisted organization, successfully conducted its 2nd Quarter Meeting on 11 June 2026 at the Executive Conference Hall, Mayorโs Office, Municipal Compound, Pinamalayan, Oriental Mindoro, with the participation of the Provincial Agriculture Office (PAGO) and the National Meat Inspection Service (NMIS)-MIMAROPA.
The meeting brought together market administrators from various local government units across the province to discuss updates, share best practices, and identify initiatives aimed at improving public market operations and strengthening consumer welfare.
In his Welcome Remarks, Mayor Rodel M. Magsino underscored the importance of public markets in local economic development and emphasized the value of collaboration among local government units. He likewise expressed appreciation to OMMAA for selecting Pinamalayan as host of the meeting.
DTI Oriental Mindoro Provincial Director Arnel E. Hutalla, CESO V, delivered the Opening Message, emphasizing the role of public markets as centers of commerce and livelihood and encouraging continued innovation and partnership among stakeholders.
Mr. Allan Michael V. Ansaldo, Market Administrator of Pinamalayan, delivered the Inspirational Message, highlighting the importance of commitment and cooperation in strengthening public market governance.
The Provincial Agriculture Office (PAGO), headed by Provincial Agriculturist Christine M. Pine, presented the Oriental Mindoro Consolidation and Trading Facility (OMCTF). The presentation was led by Mr. Joshua Alexandre A. Logmao, Special Assistant in Marketing, together with Ms. Pine, Engr. Jefte DC. Bay-Ongan, and Ms. Mariannell Ramos. The discussion focused on strengthening market linkages and expanding opportunities for local producers, vendors, and traders.
The National Meat Inspection Service (NMIS)-MIMAROPA, represented by Dr. Mignon A. Umali, Regional Director, together with Mr. Michael Monterey and Mr. John Raefael Pederna, presented programs and services related to meat safety, sanitation standards, regulatory compliance, and consumer protection in public markets.
Updates on the Bidang Manininda Awards 2026 and the Pamilihang Bayan ng Bidang Mamimili (PBBM) Awards 2026 were presented by Mr. Marvin L. Macalalad of DTI Oriental Mindoro. The Top 3 public markets that will represent the province in the regional evaluation for the PBBM Awards were likewise announced.
Ms. Fely Joy Dinglasan, Lead of the Provincial Evaluation Committee, provided observations and recommendations based on provincial assessments, highlighting areas for further improvement in public market operations.
The meeting was presided over by Enp. Nepo Jerome G. Benter, President of OMMAA and Economic and Enterprise Development Officer of the City Government of Calapan. In his Closing Remarks, he expressed appreciation to the DTI Oriental Mindoro Provincial Office, serving as OMMAA Secretariat, and to the Municipal Government of Pinamalayan, through its Market Operations Department, for hosting the activity.
OMMAA, together with DTI Oriental Mindoro and partner agencies, continues to support initiatives aimed at improving the efficiency, competitiveness, and consumer responsiveness of public markets in the province.
