Pasay City — The Philippine National Police Aviation Security Group (PNP AVSEGROUP) – NAIA Police Station 1, in coordination with the Manila Police District – Women and Children Protection Section (MPD-WCPS), successfully implemented a Joint Service of Warrant of Arrest against a 48-year-old Korean national, an inbound passenger from Busan, Korea, at NAIA Terminal 1 in the evening of January 23, 2026.

Joint personnel from NAIA Police Station 1 and MPD-WCPS served the Warrant of Arrest dated January 12, 2026, issued by the Regional Trial Court, National Capital Judicial Region, for the offense of R**e under Article 266-A, paragraph 1(b) of the Revised Penal Code. The warrant carries no bail recommended.

Upon arrest, the accused was informed of the nature of the offense and was properly apprised of his Constitutional Rights in a language he understood. An Alternative Recording Device was utilized during the implementation of the warrant to ensure transparency and proper documentation of the procedure.

Following the operation, the accused was placed under the custody of the Manila Police District – Women and Children Protection Section for documentation and further legal proceedings.

PASAY CITY— A full aviation security response was activated on Saturday night of January 24, 2026 at NAIA Terminal 3 following a bomb joke made by a 52-year-old female departing passenger during baggage check-in at the departure.

The incident occurred at Island A, Counter A-9 of the terminal’s departure area while the passenger was undergoing routine baggage check-in for a domestic flight bound for Tacloban. During the process, ground service personnel of an airline requested the removal of an old baggage tag to facilitate proper labeling. A disagreement ensued, during which the passenger jokingly remarked, “Bomba ata yan,” that the contents of the baggage might be a bomb.

Airport ground staff immediately flagged the statement as a serious security concern and reminded the passenger that jokes or remarks involving bombs or explosives are strictly prohibited within airport premises and are punishable under existing aviation security regulations and Presidential Decree 1727 or the Anti-Bomb Joke Law.

The PNP Aviation Security Group—NAIA Police Station 3 (NPS 3) and Special Operations Unit (SOU)— personnel were promptly alerted, leading to the immediate cordoning of the area and the activation of standard emergency response protocols. Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) and Explosive Detection Dog (EDD) teams were deployed to conduct a thorough inspection and clearing operation. After a meticulous sweep, the area was declared clear of any explosive or incendiary materials in the early hours of the following day.

The passenger was escorted to the airport police station for documentation and investigation. While no criminal charges were ultimately pursued following the ex*****on of an affidavit of non-formal complaint by airline representatives, the passenger was offloaded from the scheduled flight and will be blacklisted from future flights by the airline concerned.

PBGen Dionisio B Bartolome, Jr, Director of the PNP AVSEGROUP, reminded the public that, “Any bomb-related jokes or remarks in airports are strictly prohibited and will prompt immediate security action.” # # #

PASAY CITY — Five abandoned parcels containing illegal drugs were intercepted on August 7, 2025, at the Central Mail Exchange Center (CMEC) by the NAIA Drug Interdiction Task Group, including PNP AVSEGROUP and other agencies.

The parcels came from the United States and were addressed to individuals in Ilocos Norte, Cebu, Tarlac, and Misamis Oriental. Found inside were suspected ma*****na oil in v**e pens and Ma*****na Kush, weighing a total of 147 gramsand valued at around ₱41,940.00.

The items were flagged during X-ray screening, confirmed by a K-9 unit, and manually inspected. The seized evidence was properly documented and turned over to the PDEA National Office for investigation.

Committed to public safety, PNP AVSEGROUP continues to protect our airports from the dangers of smuggled contraband.

FOREIGNER ARRESTED FOR ALLEGED ₱22.6M MA*****NA KUSH AT NAIA T3

Pasay City – The PNP Aviation Security Group (AVSEGROUP), in coordination with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA), Bureau of Customs (BOC), and NAIA Inter-Agency Drug Interdiction Task Group (NAIA-IADITG), arrested a 60-year-old foreign national, resident of a of United Kingdom of Great Britain, for alleged possession of approximately 15,078 grams of suspected Ma*****na Kush valued at ₱22,617,000.00 at the Arrival International Area of NAIA Terminal 3.

Initial inspection by a Customs Inspector revealed an organic substance detected by the X-ray machine, prompting immediate coordination with PDEA and the NAIA-IADITG.

The PDEA K9 Unit conducted a paneling procedure, where the narcotic detection dog gave a positive indication for dangerous drugs. Upon opening the luggage, authorities confirmed the presence of dried leaves suspected to be Ma*****na Kush. The suspect and the seized contraband are now under the custody of the NAIA-IADITG Operations Center for documentation and further legal action.

“Your journey should begin with safety, not crime. Bring illegal drugs, and your trip will end in jail. Keep our airports drug-free,” said PBGEN Jay Reyes Cumigad, Director of the PNP AVSEGROUP.
