TWO MOST WANTED PERSONS ARRESTED OVER QUALIFIED R**E OF MINOR CASES IN CAMARINES SUR, AGUSAN DEL NORTE

The Philippine National Police (PNP) arrested two individuals listed among the Most Wanted Persons in their respective police regions during separate early-morning operations on September 1, 2026, as police units continue to account for individuals with outstanding warrants and help move cases forward through the proper legal process.

In Camarines Sur, personnel of the Magarao Municipal Police Station, Camarines Sur Police Provincial Office, and Regional Intelligence Unit 5 arrested a legal-age Filipino male in Barangay San Miguel, Calabanga. He was ranked No. 5 Most Wanted Person in Police Regional Office 5 and was arrested by virtue of a warrant for Qualified R**e of a Minor. He is currently under police custody.

In Agusan del Norte, personnel of the Las Nieves Municipal Police Station, Agusan del Norte Police Provincial Office, and 1304th Maneuver Company, Regional Mobile Force Battalion 13, arrested another legal-age Filipino male in Barangay Bonifacio, Las Nieves. Ranked No. 2 Most Wanted Person in Police Regional Office 13, he was arrested pursuant to warrants for four counts of Qualified R**e of a Minor and is now under police custody.

Chief PNP Police General Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr. said the arrests demonstrate the importance of sustained police work in locating wanted persons, particularly those who remain the subject of active warrants.

“A warrant is not something we simply file away and forget. Kapag may taong hinahanap ng batas, our responsibility is to keep working until that person is located and the case can proceed where it belongs. That steady work matters, especially to the victims and their families who continue to wait for justice,” PGen Nartatez said.

The operations are part of the PNP’s continuing implementation of its Focused Agenda, particularly under Enhanced Managing Police Operations (EMPO), which promotes effective, intelligence-driven, and accountable police operations. ALLEGED BOMB JOKE PROMPTS SECURITY RESPONSE AT TACLOBAN AIRPORT

The Philippine National Police (PNP) promptly responded to a security concern at the Daniel Z. Romualdez Airport in Tacloban City after a female passenger allegedly made a remark suggesting that her laptop contained a bomb while aboard a flight bound for Manila on August 31, 2026.

The passenger was reportedly at the aircraft’s galley when she sought assistance in locating a laptop she had left at the departure area. After the device was found and returned, she was asked to open it for verification and allegedly made the remark that prompted the security response.

PNP Aviation Security Group personnel immediately carried out the appropriate security procedures and arrested the passenger. She was informed of her constitutional rights, while authorities continued to verify the circumstances surrounding the incident.

The PNP is preparing the appropriate complaint for possible violation of Presidential Decree No. 1727, or the Anti-Bomb Joke Law, as the investigation proceeds.

Chief PNP Police General Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr. emphasized that airport security requires both vigilance and responsibility from authorities and passengers.

“Sa airport, bawat salita at kilos may epekto sa seguridad. We ask everyone to be mindful because even a remark meant as a joke can trigger a security response and affect other passengers. Ang mahalaga, we respond properly, protect everyone, and let the investigation establish the facts,” PGen Nartatez said.

The PNP also reminds the public that bomb jokes or similar threats should not be made in any setting—not only in airports, but also in public places, schools, establishments, workplaces, and even through social media or other online platforms. What may be intended as humor can cause unnecessary alarm, disrupt operations, and prompt appropriate security measures.

₱14.28M SHABU SUPPLY BUSTED IN MANILA; DRUG TRAFFICKER ARRESTED

The Philippine National Police, under the command of PNP Chief PGEN Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr., scored a major breakthrough against the illegal drug trade following the arrest of a high-value individual (HVI) in a buy-bust operation in Ermita, Manila, on August 31, 2026.

The NCRPO, through the Manila Police District Drug Enforcement Unit (MPD-DEU), arrested the 33-year-old male suspect along Maria Orosa Street, Barangay 666, Zone 72, recovering 2,100 grams of suspected shabu with an estimated Standard Drug Price of ₱14,280,000.00.

The seized drugs were packed in two small and two large heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets. Police also recovered the marked money used in the entrapment, boodle money, and the suspect’s personal belongings.

The arrested suspect remains under MPD-DEU custody and is facing complaints for violations of Sections 5 and 11 of Republic Act No. 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

PGEN Nartatez underscored the importance of the operation in disrupting the movement of illegal drugs in the capital. “This operation demonstrates how intelligence-driven police work can intercept significant drug transactions before they reach their intended destination. We will use every available lead to pursue the wider network behind these activities.”

He also emphasized the value of building on the evidence gathered during the operation. “Ang bawat operasyon ay may mahalagang impormasyong maaaring magturo sa iba pang sangkot. FIREARM REPORT LEADS PNP TO 5 SUSPECTED ACETYLENE GANG MEMBERS

Five men allegedly linked to the so-called “Acetylene Gang” were arrested after police responding to information about a man reportedly carrying a firearm in General Trias City, Cavite, discovered a cache of weapons, suspected ma*****na, a hand gr***de, and equipment believed to be used in forcibly opening secured containers.

The suspects, aged 33 to 57, were intercepted late evening of August 29 along CM Delos Reyes Avenue, Barangay Biclatan. What initially began as a police response to a report involving a person allegedly armed in the area led to the discovery of other items inside the vehicle where the suspects were found.

Police recovered a 9mm pistol with ammunition from one of the suspects, as well as a .38 revolver, a 12-gauge shotgun, additional ammunition, a hand gr***de, and around 9.77 grams of suspected ma*****na. Acetylene equipment and other paraphernalia allegedly used to forcibly open vaults and other secured containers were also recovered.

Initial investigation indicated that the five men may be connected to the so-called “Acetylene Gang,” which is being linked to robbery incidents in different parts of Luzon and the Visayas. Their identities, backgrounds, and possible involvement in specific incidents remain subject to verification and further investigation.

Chief PNP Police General Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr. said the development highlights how alert police response to seemingly isolated reports can uncover wider security concerns.

“Sometimes, what looks like an ordinary report is actually a piece of a bigger picture. Kaya mahalaga ang mabilis na response, tamang validation, at maayos na coordination. We cannot afford to ignore details that may help us prevent a bigger problem,” PGen Nartatez said.

The recovered fi****ms and ammunition will undergo ballistic examination, while the suspected ma*****na will be subjected to chemical analysis. The recovered hand gr***de will likewise be handled by the appropriate explosives unit for proper disposition.

PNP SUSTAINS NATIONWIDE ANTI-DRUG OPS; OVER ₱12.2M ILLEGAL DRUGS SEIZED IN DAVAO, KALINGA, ILOILO

The Philippine National Police (PNP) continues to strengthen its anti-illegal drug campaign as police operations in Davao de Oro, Kalinga, and Iloilo resulted in the arrest of a high-value drug personality and the seizure and destruction of illegal drugs with a combined estimated value of more than ₱12.2 million.

In Pantukan, Davao de Oro, police arrested a legal-age Filipino known by the alias “Jun,” identified as a high-value individual (HVI), during a tracking operation on August 30. The suspect had previously been arrested in June in connection with the recovery of approximately 215 grams of suspected shabu valued at ₱1.462 million. After leaving police custody during the course of the earlier proceedings, he was continuously tracked until his recent arrest.

Meanwhile, a joint police operation in Tinglayan, Kalinga, led to the discovery of a ma*****na plantation containing approximately 3,000 fully grown ma*****na plants with an estimated standard drug price of ₱6 million. No cultivator was arrested during the operation. The recovered plants were destroyed on site, while samples were retained for appropriate examination.

In Iloilo City, police also arrested two HVIs in a buy-bust operation in Barangay San Isidro, La Paz, early on August 31. Authorities recovered approximately 710 grams of suspected shabu with an estimated standard drug price of ₱4.828 million, along with the buy-bust money and other evidence.

These operations reflect the PNP’s sustained implementation of the PNP Focused Agenda, particularly Enhanced Managing Police Operations (EMPO), which calls for coordinated, intelligence-driven, and accountable police action against threats to public safety. TWO CTG MEMBERS DROP ARMS, SURRENDER IN MISAMIS ORIENTAL

The Philippine National Police, under the command of PNP Chief PGEN Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr., facilitated the voluntary surrender of two Communist Terrorist Group (CTG) members in Magsaysay, Misamis Oriental, on August 28, 2026, further reducing the armed group’s presence in the area.

The surrenderers, identified by their aliases “Dumalag,” 33, married, and “Rhiane,” 24, single, both residents of Agusan del Norte, were former members of Platoon Lennon, Guerrilla Front 4B, Sub-Regional Committee 1, North Central Mindanao Regional Committee (NCMRC). Both were listed in the Non-Periodic Status Report (NPSR).

The surrender was facilitated through joint operations involving the 1001st Maneuver Company (MC), Regional Mobile Force Battalion 10 (RMFB 10), RMFB 10 intelligence operatives, 11th Special Action Company, 1st Special Action Battalion, Special Action Force, Regional Intelligence Unit 10, Directorate for Intelligence–Mindanao Area Police Intelligence Office, National Intelligence Coordinating Agency 10, Magsaysay Municipal Police Station, Provincial Intelligence Unit, and 1st Provincial Mobile Force Company of the Misamis Oriental Police Provincial Office.

The two former CTG members turned over two improvised shotguns and nine rounds of 12-gauge ammunition. They are now under the custody of the 1001st MC, RMFB 10, in Langonglong, Misamis Oriental, for custodial debriefing and individual profiling, while the surrendered fi****ms and ammunition will be subjected to forensic examination by the Regional Forensic Unit.

“Their decision to surrender is a concrete step away from armed conflict and toward a peaceful and lawful life. The PNP will remain firm in protecting communities and addressing threats to public safety,” PGEN Nartatez said.

“Ang mahalaga ngayon ay mabigyan sila ng pagkakataong makapagsimulang muli at mamuhay nang mapayapa. Hinihikayat natin ang iba pang kasapi na piliin ang kapayapaan at iwanan ang armadong pakikibaka,” he added.

The development is also aligned with the PNP Focused Agenda, particularly Active Community Support, by strengthening community engagement and encouraging those involved in armed groups to return to peaceful and lawful communities.
