TRACK AND INTENSITY OUTLOOK
• It must be emphasized that heavy rainfall and severe winds may still be experienced in localities outside the landfall point and the forecast confidence cone. Refer to “Other Hazards affecting Land Areas” for more details. Furthermore, the track may still shift within the limit of the forecast confidence cone.
• PILANDOK is forecast to slowly turn east northeastward then northward over the next 24 hours. Afterwards, it will move generally north northwestward for the remainder of the forecast period. It is forecast to exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) by tomorrow (02 September) evening or Thursday (03 September) morning. This tropical cyclone is less likely to make landfall over the country and will remain far from the Philippine landmass.
• PILANDOK is forecast to remain as a tropical storm as it moves towards southern Japan.
Considering these developments, the public and disaster risk reduction and management offices concerned are advised to take all necessary measures to protect life and property. Persons living in areas identified to be highly or very highly susceptible to these hazards are advised to follow evacuation and other instructions from local officials. Nananatili ang lakas ng 𝗧𝗿𝗼𝗽𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗗𝗲𝗽𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 “𝗣𝗜𝗟𝗔𝗡𝗗𝗢𝗞” habang kumikilos ito sa direksyong hilagang-kanluran (north-northwestward) sa bilis na humigit-kumulang 10 km/h. Batay sa pinakahuling datos alas-4:00 PM, ang sentro nito ay tinatayang nasa 1,145 kilometro silangan ng Extreme Northern Luzon, kaya nananatili itong malayo sa kalupaan ng bansa. Taglay nito ang lakas ng hangin na 55 km/h malapit sa sentro at pagbugsong umaabot sa 70 km/h. Sa kasalukuyan, walang nakataas na Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal (TCWS) sa alinmang bahagi ng bansa.

As of 8:00 AM today, 31 August 2026, Tropical Depression “PILANDOK” (LPA 08j) is being monitored INSIDE the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR).

Meanwhile, two Tropical Depressions, TD "SAUDEL" (formerly OBET) and TD (formerly LPA 08l) are being monitored OUTSIDE the PAR.

Additionally, LPA 08m is being monitored OUTSIDE PAR and has a MEDIUM chance of developing into a Tropical Depression (TD) within the next 24 hours.

All are advised to monitor updates from DOST-PAGASA.

The center of Tropical Depression PILANDOK was estimated based on all available data at 1,160 km East of Extreme Northern Luzon (21.1°N, 133.1°E).

➣Intensity:
Maximum sustained winds of 55 km/h near the center, gustiness of up to 70 km/h, and central pressure of 1000 hPa

➣Extent of Tropical Cyclone Winds:
Strong winds extend outwards up to 450 km from the center

• PILANDOK is forecast to intensify into a tropical storm by tomorrow (01 September). Afterwards, it is forecast to weaken into a tropical depression by Wednesday and will maintain its strength throughout the remainder of the forecast period.
