CELEBRITIES TO ADD STAR POWER TO MISS HADANG GRAND CORONATION

Celebrities are expected to bring added glamour and star power to the much-anticipated Search for Miss Hadang Grand Coronation tonight at the Calbayog Sports Center.

Leading the roster of celebrity judges is Miss Universe 2013 Ariella “Ara” Hernandez Arida, who represented the Philippines at the 2013 Miss Universe competition, where she finished as third runner-up.

Joining Arida on the panel is Justine Tarah Marie Valencia, who was crowned Miss Supranational Philippines 2025 and represented the country at the Miss Supranational 2025 pageant, where she finished as third runner-up.

Waraynon beauty queen Christina Vanhefflin will also sit as one of the judges. She represented the Philippines at the 53rd Miss Intercontinental pageant held in Egypt on January 29, 2026, where she finished in the Top 5.

Adding more star power to the event is Mister Pilipinas Worldwide Cosmopolitan 2025 Kenneth Marcelino, who made his mark on the international stage after finishing as first runner-up in the Mister Cosmopolitan Competition 2025 held in Bangkok, Thailand.

Completing the panel of judges are the equally elegant Samar Board Member Abbie Joy Irigon-Yulo and restaurateur Catherine Bonavitacola, alongside distinguished RTC Judge Mario D. Quinit.

With an impressive lineup of judges, all eyes are now on the candidates as they take the stage tonight in their bid for the coveted Miss Hadang crown.

The Hadang Festival 2026 Street Dance Competition will be held this Sunday, September 6, 2026, at 2:00 PM.

Please be advised that several streets in Calbayog City will be temporarily closed to vehicular traffic during the competition.

Motorists and commuters passing through Calbayog City are advised to take the diversion road to avoid traffic congestion.

Otherwise, if possible, please adjust your travel time accordingly to avoid delays and inconvenience.

CALBAYOG CLEARS PROVINCIAL ASSESSMENT, ADVANCES TO NEXT PHASE OF REGIONAL LOCAL GOVERNANCE CHAMPIONS

It’s 10/10 for Calbayog!

Calbayog City has cleared the provincial assessment for the Regional Local Governance Champions, earning a perfect score of 10/10, based on the findings presented by the provincial assessment team today following the conclusion of the assessment at the Engineering Conference Hall.

The result advances Calbayog to the regional assessment, as the city seeks to replicate its achievement as a 2025 Local Governance Champion under the Regional Seal of Good Local Governance Champions (RSGLGC).

The RSGLGC serves as a counterpart to the Department of the Interior and Local Government’s (DILG) Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG), which was deferred in 2025 to allow for the recalibration of its assessment criteria.

Atty. Marlito Joshua Amistoso, one of the provincial assessors, said the assessment will help prepare the local government unit for the upcoming recalibrated Seal of Good Local Governance.

The achievement is a product of the hard work, dedication, and commitment of the various department heads and office chiefs, with the guidance of City Local Government Operations Officer (CLGOO) Atty. Begie T. Lucenicio.

Mayor Raymund Uy urged all department heads, office chiefs, and personnel involved in the city’s SGLG journey to sustain their collective efforts and work toward repeating Calbayog’s success in the Regional Local Governance Champions last year.
