PRO 8’s Swift Action Leads to Arrest of Stabbing Suspect in Eastern Samar

CAMP KANGLEON, PALO, LEYTE- In line with its intensified campaign against criminal activities, the Police Regional Office 8 (PRO-8), under the leadership of PBGEN JASON L CAPOY, Regional Director, successfully apprehended a suspect involved in a stabbing incident in Brgy. Tiguib, Oras, Eastern Samar on January 6, 2026.

The suspect was identified as alias “Rick,” a 45-yearl-old male and a resident of Oras, Eastern Samar, while the victim was identified as alias “Niel,” a 56-year-old barangay chairman and a resident of Brgy. Tiguib, Oras, Eastern Samar

Initial investigation disclosed that the victim was on his way home aboard his motorcycle after bringing his wife to their store in the said barangay when the suspect suddenly attacked him with a short-bladed weapon locally known as a “dipang,” thereby inflicting multiple stab wounds on various parts of his body. Despite sustaining injuries, the victim managed to dismount from his motorcycle and seek help; however, the suspect caught up with him and stabbed him again.

Subsequently, the victim was swiftly transported to Oras Doctors’ Hospital but was declared dead on arrival by the attending physician.

Meanwhile, elements of the Oras Municipal Police Station (MPS) immediately conducted a hot pursuit operation, which resulted in the prompt arrest of the suspect.

RD CAPOY commended the operating unit for its swift response and strong commitment to enforcing the rule of law.
“The successful arrest through a hot pursuit operation stresses our intensified efforts to bring perpetrators of violence to justice and maintain peace and order in our communities,” he said.

The suspect is now under the custody of Oras MPS for proper disposition.

ORMOC CPS4, OCDEU and OCPO-CIU Anti-Drug Operation Nabs High-Value Individual

LINAO, ORMOC CITY—The Ormoc City Police Station 4 Drug Enforcement Team led by PCPT RODOLFO G MERCOLITA, Officer In-Charge, together with Ormoc City Drug Enforcement Unit OCDEU and OCPO-CIU all under direct control and supervision of PLTCOL JOEL R CAMACHO, OIC, OCPO successfully conducted a buy-bust operation resulting in the apprehension of one drug peddler at Brgy. Tambulilid, Ormoc City on January 07, 2026.

Suspect was identified as alias "Mak”, 26 years old male, with live-in partner, fish vendor and a resident of Brgy. Tambulilid, Ormoc City listed as High-Value Individual.

During operation, authorities confiscated evidence were four (4) pieces heat-sealed transparent plastic sachet with white crystalline substance suspected to be shabu, one (1) piece genuine five-hundred-peso bill (Php 500.00) as buy-bust money, nine (9) five-hundred-peso bill (Php500.00) bogus money , cash in different denomination amounting to Fifty-three pesos (Php53.00) , one (1) Green Sling Bag and one (1) 19cm knife with scabbard.

Upon apprehension, the suspect was informed of the nature of his arrest and was apprised of his constitutional rights in a language understood by him. Subsequently, brought to OCPS4 for documentation and proper disposition.

The confiscated evidence will be turned over to Ormoc City Forensic Unit, Brgy. Camp Downes, Ormoc, City. Criminal complaints for violation of sections 5 and 11 under RA 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002) as amended by RA 10640 (An Act that Further Strengthens the Anti-Drug Campaign of the Government) will be filed against the suspect.

Wanted Suspect Arrested for Statutory R**e

LINAO, ORMOC CITY—Joint elements of Ormoc City Police Station 4 led by PCPT RODOLFO G MERCOLITA, Officer-In-Charge (led unit) together with CIT Ormoc RIU8, and RSOU8 (Support Unit) successfully arrested wanted person for the crime of Statutory R**e in relation to simultaneous anti-criminality law enforcement operation on December 23, 2025.

Suspect was identified as alias "Ricky”, 33 years old male, single, construction worker and a resident of Purok 1, Brgy. Linao, Ormoc City.

Operating units arrested the suspect by virtue of warrant of arrest issued by the court dated December 2, 2025 with no bail recommended.

Upon apprehension, said accused was informed of the nature of his arrest and apprised of his constitutional rights in a language he understood. Subsequently, the accused was brought to the OCPS4 for documentation and proper disposition.
