HADANG SAN UGIS

This white costume takes the form of the manok—the rooster whose spirited movements gave rise to Sarakiki, and whose offering completes the Hadang, an ancestral ritual dance of the Warays performed to honor the spirits and seek their favor. Its design carries the kasaysayan—the living history and saysay, or deeper meaning—of this pre-colonial tradition, rendered in white to reflect the purity of the alay, the sacred offering at the heart of the ritual. The wings embody the spirit of Calbayog: a people rooted in ancestral custom, united in faith and celebration, and ever soaring toward a brighter future.
