CALBIGA, Samar โ The 63rd Infantry (Innovator) Battalion, Philippine Army, participated in the AFP-wide Simultaneous Flag-Raising Ceremony on 03 August 2026 at the Advance Command Post, 63IB, Brgy. Literon, Calbiga, Samar, in the observance of the 2026 International Humanitarian Law (IHL) Month. The activity was led by LTC RICKY JAMES L. ROSALEJOS INF (GSC) PA, Commanding Officer of 63IB. The observance likewise commemorated the 77th Anniversary of the 1949 Geneva Conventions, the cornerstone of International Humanitarian Law.
LTC Rosalejos read the message of GENERAL ANTONIO G. NAFARRETE PA, Chief of Staff, Armed Forces of the Philippines, who reiterated the AFP's unwavering commitment to the principles of International Humanitarian Law, human rights, and the rule of law. The message emphasized that respect for human dignity, the protection of persons not taking part in hostilities, and strict adherence to the Geneva Conventions remain fundamental responsibilities of every soldier. It further underscored that strengthened partnership and unity among government institutions, security forces, and humanitarian organizations are essential in advancing the effective implementation of IHL.
The observance reaffirmed the Armed Forces of the Philippines' steadfast commitment to embedding International Humanitarian Law in its doctrine, training, planning, and operations. As the nation commemorates IHL Month, the activity served as a reminder that military professionalism and humanitarian responsibility go hand in hand, strengthening public trust while ensuring the protection of civilians and the dignity of all persons affected by armed conflict.
Following the ceremony, the battalion conducted the Donning of Unit Patches for newly assigned officers, the Donning of Ranks for newly promoted enlisted personnel, and the presentation of Positional Awards to personnel designated to key leadership positions. Individual awards and commendations were likewise conferred upon deserving personnel in recognition of their exemplary performance, professionalism, and invaluable contributions to the accomplishment of the battalion's mission. These recognition rites underscored the unit's commitment to developing competent leaders, rewarding excellence, and inspiring every Innovator Trooper to uphold the highest standards of military service.
