ILOILO CITY – Elements of Iloilo City Police Station 8 (ICPS8) conducted a buy-bust operation in Brgy. Jalandoni Estate, Lapuz, Iloilo City at around 9:59 PM of October 13, 2025 that resulted in the arrest of a high-value individual and 55 grams of suspected shabu.

The suspect was identified as alias “Lan,” 36 years old, a tricycle driver, and a resident of Iloilo City.

Recovered from the suspect were ten (10) heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets containing suspected shabu; buy-bust money; and several non-drug items.

Alias “Lan” is presently under the custody of ICPS 8 and will be facing charges for violation of Sections 5 (Sale of Dangerous Drugs), and 11 (Possession of Dangerous Drugs) of Republic Act 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002) that carry the penalty of life imprisonment and fines ranging from PHP 500,000 to PHP 10,000,000.

Western Visayas police chief, POLICE BRIGADIER GENERAL JOSEFINO D LIGAN praised the elements of ICPS 8 for their efforts.

“I commend the operating units for their efforts that led to the successful seizure of illegal drugs and the arrest of the suspect involved. This accomplishment reflects our steadfast commitment to the PNP’s intensified campaign against illegal drugs,” PBGEN LIGAN said.

“Let this serve as a strong warning to those who continue to engage in illegal drug activities, there is no safe haven for you,” he added.

ILOILO CITY – A 25-year-old jobless man from Roxas City, Capiz identified as alias "Yan" and listed as the province’s No. 8 Most Wanted Person (MWP) for violation of RA 10883 or the New Anti-Carnapping Act of 2016, was apprehended by operatives of the Roxas City Police Station, in coordination with the Regional Intelligence Unit 6 (RIU6) in Capiz, at around 8:05 PM on October 13, 2025, in Pueblo de Panay, Brgy. Lawaan, Roxas City.

He was arrested by virtue of warrant of arrest, issued at Roxas City, Capiz with bail bond recommended fixed at PhP 300,000.00.

POLICE BRIGADIER GENERAL JOSEFINO D LIGAN, Region 6 top cop lauded the involved units for the successful arrest.

“I commend the operatives for the successful arrest. This accomplishment is a testament to our unwavering commitment to bring fugitives to justice and ensure that the rule of law prevails,” said PBGEN LIGAN.

“Let this serve as a clear message to those who continue to evade the law, your time will come. I urge all personnel to remain relentless, disciplined, and dedicated as we continue to make Western Visayas a safer place for all,” he added.

The said arrested most wanted person is presently under the custody of Roxas City PS for proper disposition of his case.

ILOILO CITY — The Police Regional Office 6 (PRO6) arrested 22 wanted persons across Western Visayas during the week of October 6–12, 2025, as part of its intensified campaign against criminality.

Based on the data from the Regional Operations Division (ROD), a total of 12 operations were conducted targeting Other Wanted Persons and 11 operations against Most Wanted Persons across various police units in the region.

Of the 22 individuals arrested, 10 were identified as Most Wanted Persons, while 12 were classified as Other Wanted Persons. The arrests include the capture of the region’s Most Wanted Persons ranked 1, 3, 4, 5, 7, and 10.

PRO6 Regional Director PBGEN JOSEFINO D LIGAN commended the operating units for their dedication and commitment to the region’s ongoing campaign to bring fugitives to justice.

“The consistent results of our operations show the relentless efforts of our personnel in maintaining peace and order. Every arrest contributes to a safer community for all residents of Western Visayas,” PBGEN LIGAN said.

The series of operations was carried out by various police stations under the city and provincial police offices, with support from the Regional Mobile Force Battalion 6 and other specialized units.

PRO6 continues to urge the public to cooperate with authorities by providing information that may lead to the arrest of wanted individuals and the prevention of crimes in their communities.

ILOILO CITY — The Police Regional Office 6 (PRO6) reported a significant decrease in total crime incidents across Western Visayas, reflecting the region’s continued improvement in peace and order compared to the same period last year.

From January to September 2025, PRO6 recorded a total of 14,380 crime incidents, or 209 cases fewer than the 14,589 incidents recorded during the same period in 2024. Under the Peace and Order Indicator (POI), the region also posted a 10.54 percent reduction, with 5,722 incidents this year compared to 6,382 incidents in 2024.

Police Brigadier GENERAL JOSEFINO D LIGAN, Regional Director of PRO6, said the steady decline in crime figures underscores the effectiveness of intensified law enforcement operations, proactive community engagement, and strengthened collaboration with local government units and partner agencies.

“This downtrend in criminal incidents mirrors the dedication of our personnel and the cooperation of our communities. We will continue to sustain this momentum to ensure the safety and security of all Western Visayans,” RD LIGAN said.

Index and Non-Index Crimes Down

Index crimes—those involving serious offenses such as murder, homicide, physical injury, r**e, robbery, and theft—dropped by 20.74 percent, from 1,591 incidents in January to September 2024 to 1,261 incidents in the same period this year.

Non-index crimes, which include violations of special laws and other offenses, also fell by 6.89 percent, from 4,791 to 4,461 cases.

Focus Crimes Significantly Lower

Among the ten focus crimes, PRO6 documented a 20.88 percent decrease, from 1,585 cases in 2024 to 1,254 cases in 2025. Physical injury, theft, and r**e remain among the most commonly reported, yet all have shown marked reductions compared to the previous year.

Sustained Law Enforcement Efforts

RD LIGAN credited the consistent decrease to the police’s enhanced crime prevention programs, data-driven deployment, and close coordination with local authorities and community stakeholders.

“We attribute this success to intensified visibility patrols, strict implementation of special laws, and the active role of the public in reporting and preventing crimes,” he added.

Generally Peaceful Region

With the continuing downward trend in crime incidents, PRO6 reaffirmed that Western Visayas remains generally peaceful and orderly, with police forces maintaining a strong presence in both urban and rural areas.

The regional police vowed to further strengthen its anti-criminality and peacekeeping efforts as part of its commitment to uphold the safety and welfare of the people in Region 6.
