The Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Office of Caluya is deeply grateful for this meaningful recognition from the Environmental Management Bureau Region VI, received on August 19, 2026, during the 2026 Solid Waste Management (SWM) and Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) Summit in Iloilo City.

This award inspires us to continue strengthening our commitment to responsible environmental management, good governance, and the protection of our natural resources for the people and communities of Caluya.

Our heartfelt appreciation to Hon. Mayor Rigil Kent G. Lim for his continued support, trust, and leadership in advancing our environmental programs and initiatives.

The Local Government Unit of Caluya, under the proactive leadership of our Hon. Mayor Rigil Kent G. Lim, through this office continues to strengthen its environmental conservation efforts through the nurturing of native tree seedlings.

Native species such as Bangkal, Narra, Tipolo, and Molave are being carefully nurtured to support future reforestation, watershed rehabilitation, and other environmental restoration initiatives throughout the municipality. As part of this activity, MENRO personnel conducted potting and transplanting of seedlings to promote healthy growth and prepare them for future planting.

By maintaining a sustainable supply of healthy native seedlings, LGU remains committed to restoring local ecosystems, enhancing biodiversity, and building a greener and more climate-resilient Caluya.

The Local Government Unit of Caluya under the proactive leadership of Hon. Mayor Rigil Kent G. Lim, through this office successfully rescued, documented, and released a female Green Sea Turtle that was found entangled in ropes in the waters of Barangay Sabang.

The turtle measured 30 cm curved carapace length (CCL) and 26 cm curved carapace width (CCW). Following proper documentation and assessment, it was safely released back into its natural habitat.

This successful rescue reflects the Municipality of Caluya’s continued commitment to protecting marine biodiversity and conserving our coastal and marine resources.

The public is encouraged to report sightings of distressed or injured marine wildlife to this office or appropriate authorities for immediate response.

In celebration of the International Day for the Conservation of the Mangrove Ecosystem, the Local Government Unit of Caluya under the proactive leadership of our Municipal Mayor Hon. Rigil Kent G. Lim and through this office conducted a Mangrove Tree Planting Activity at the municipality’s largest mangrove area in Barangay Harigue, Sibay Island.

Bakhaw babae and bakhaw lalaki propagules were planted in support of mangrove restoration and conservation efforts. Mangroves serve as natural barriers against storm surges and coastal erosion, store significant amounts of carbon, and provide vital nursery habitats for fish and other marine life.

Through this initiative, the Municipality of Caluya reaffirms its commitment to protecting and preserving our coastal ecosystems for the benefit of present and future generations.

THE BEST TIME TO PLANT A TREE WAS YEARS AGO. THE NEXT BEST TIME IS TODAY.

In celebration of Philippine Arbor Day, Environment Month, and Pista Kang Kagubatan 2026, the Local Government Unit of Caluya under the proactive leadership of Hon. Rigil Kent G. Lim, through the Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Office (MENRO), successfully conducted a Tree Planting Activity at the Palawan Watershed, Brgy. Sabang.

A total of 143 native tree seedlings were planted to help protect and restore our watershed, strengthening our commitment to environmental conservation and climate resilience.

Our heartfelt appreciation goes to the Barangay and SK Officials of Sabang, Utility Workers, Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), and Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) personnel for their active participation and support.

We also extend our sincere gratitude to the YES-O (Youth for Environment in Schools Organization) of Semirara National High School for generously donating the native seedlings that made this activity possible.

Together, we continue to plant hope for a greener, healthier, and more sustainable Caluya.

PHILIPPINE ENVIRONMENT MONTH 2026

The Local Government Unit of Caluya under the proactive leadership of Honorable Mayor Rigil Kent G. Lim joins the nation in celebrating Philippine Environment Month 2026 with the theme:
“Inspired by Nature. For Climate, For Our Future.”

In line with this celebration, MENRO Caluya will be conducting various environmental activities throughout the month, including tree planting activities, coastal and community clean-up drives, information and education campaigns, and other initiatives aimed at promoting environmental awareness and climate action.

We encourage every Caluyanon to take part in protecting our natural resources and maintaining a clean, healthy, and sustainable environment for present and future generations.
