The Local Government Unit (LGU) of Caluya wishes to update the public regarding the case of Mr. AJUMAR BARRIOS.
Earlier today, Mr. Barrios, 36 years old, was reported missing after he traversed on his private boat from Panagatan 3, Harigue, Caluya, Antique at around 10:00 AM. He was supposed to go home to Tinigbas, Libertad.
At around 11:33 AM, Mr. Barriosโs boat was found unmanned at the Bugtong Area, Barangay Bonbon, Caluya, Antique, as reported by Kagawad D**g Fernandez of Barangay Bonbon. The boat was discovered with boxes and other documents, including National IDs of his family, which alarmed the public and prompted immediate search and rescue operations to its nearby barangays.
We are pleased to inform everyone that at around 4:00 PM today, Mr. AJUMAR BARRIOS was found safe between the seas of Barangay Dawis, Caluya, Antique and Buruangga, Aklan. He was discovered holding onto a floater by his brothers, Ajonar Barrios and Apolinario Barrios. Mr. Barrios is now under the care of his siblings at Barangay Bacong.
Upon his rescue, a Barangay Health Worker immediately conducted a health check-up to ensure Mr. Barriosโs well-being. For further medical assessment, Mr. Barrios will be brought to Caluya PCF tomorrow morning. The Office of the Mayor will also provide the necessary commodities and assistance to his family during this time of emergency.
Initial information suggests that the possible cause of the incident may be due to the inclement weather conditions experienced today. The PCG-Caluya is being tasked to conduct further investigation into the possible causes of the incident.
The LGU Caluya extends its sincere gratitude to the Philippine Coast Guard Caluya,MDRRMO, local rescue teams, barangay officials, volunteers, and especially to Office of the Municipal Mayor for providing sea responders and logistics during the rescue operations. The cooperation and support of all involved were vital in ensuring the safety of Mr. Barrios.
