Candon City Cooperatives Join Region 1 Cooperative Month Celebration Kick-off Ceremony

Forty-three (43) officers and members of various cooperatives from Candon City, together with the City Cooperative Development Office (CCDO), joined the Region 1 Cooperative Month Celebration Kick-off Ceremony spearheaded by the Cooperative Development Authority (CDA) Region 1 under the baton of Atty. Frederick Joe Robles, in partnership with the Provincial Government of Ilocos Sur under thedynamic leadership of Gov. Jerry Singson, cooperative federations, and union cooperatives.

The Candon delegation was headed by CCDC Chairperson Efren Orpilla and CCDO Grace Llanes Ramos.

The celebration's highlights included the Cooperative Quiz Bee and a lecture series conducted by the Philippine Institute of Certified Public Accountants (PICPA), the Department of Agriculture (DA), and the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP).

The City of Candon, through Ms. Mary Joy Gambala of Ilocano Farmers MPC, emerged as the regional winner in the Quiz Bee and will represent Region 1 in the National Coop Quiz Bee on November 26–28, 2026, in Tagaytay.

📢 LOOK: Bagani Tocgo Farmers Credit Cooperative Holds In-House Training on Governance and Management of Cooperatives

Twenty-one (21) officers and members of the Bagani Tocgo Farmers Credit Cooperative completed an in-house Training on Governance and Management of Cooperatives on 29 September 2026 at the Barangay Session Hall of Bagani Tocgo.

The training was undertaken in partnership with the Ilocos Sur Union Cooperative (ISUC) and the LGU of Candon City through the City Cooperative Development Office (CCDO).

Important topics on cooperative governance and management were discussed by Ms. Grace Llanes Ramos and Ms. Richie Altis Andino, both certified trainers accredited by the Cooperative Development Authority (CDA).

Participants gained new insights on the elements of a cooperative, the roles of all officers, financial management, personnel management, strategic planning, performance evaluation, managing meetings, and a lot more.

In-House Training on Fundamentals of Cooperative

Officers and members of the Bagani Tocgo Farmers Credit Cooperative attended an in-house Training on Fundamentals of Cooperative on 22 September 2026.

A total of 23 officers and members participated in the training, which was conducted by the Ilocos Sur Union Cooperative (ISUC) in coordination with the City Government of Candon and the Candon City Cooperative Development Office.

The session was facilitated by CCDO Grace Llanes Ramos and SCDS Richie Andino, both members of ISUC's pool of trainers accredited by the Cooperative Development Authority (CDA).

Funding for the mandatory training was sourced from the cooperative's CETF remittance to ISUC, as well as from the CETF Local.

The training aimed to deepen participants' understanding of cooperative principles, governance, and operations, strengthening the cooperative's capacity to better serve its farmer-members.
