The Project Management Office (PMO) successfully organized a series of replanting and tree planting activities, skillfully led by our esteemed Project Manager, Virgilio R. Alas III. Despite inclement weather conditions characterized by persistent rainfall, the PMO personnel and staff demonstrated unwavering dedication and resilience. Together, we diligently placed stakes to provide structural support for the young seedlings, ensuring their optimal growth amidst the challenging weather. Moreover, we actively assisted the beneficiaries, offering invaluable guidance and support as they replanted the seedlings in their respective areas. The rain, though presenting obstacles, failed to dampen our spirits or deter us from our mission. Under the leadership of Virgilio R. Alas III, the collective efforts of the PMO personnel and staff made a profound impact by mitigating deforestation, preserving biodiversity, and fostering a greener, more sustainable future. Our unwavering commitment to environmental stewardship and the well-being of our community was exemplified by the active participation of the entire PMO team.

JULY 11-15 & 18-22, 2022 | Cantilan, Surigao del Sur

In compliance to the Memorandum Order No. 016 series of 2022 dated 7th day of July 2022 issued by the Honorable Mayor Philip Arreza Pichay relative to the field implementation of the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) signed by LGU Cantilan, MMDC, DENR – RXIII and MGB RXIII dubbed as Livelihood & Investment For our Environment (LIFE) Project, an assessment/inventory team was created to conduct actual/physical inspection of all reported planted seedlings under LIFE Project. Composition of inventory team are as follow, to wit;

Municipal Environment & Natural Resources Office (MENRO)
Project Management Office (PMO)
Municipal Treasure’s Office (MTO)
Local Disaster Risk Reduction & Management Office (LDRRMO)
Philippine National Police

This initiative was realized and made possible thru the collaborative efforts of the above stated Offices and their Focal Persons and with the participation of People’s Organization thru their Volunteer Planters whom duly registered under LIFE Project.

The series of activities started with a Pre-orientation of the main objective of the inventory, which was conducted & spearheaded by For. George R. Arreza, MENR Officer/Inspection Chairman. Afterwards, the team proceeded to Barangay Lobo where the first venue for the said inventory is located. There, the team has encountered impassable areas due to either debris or erosion caused by Super Typhoon Odette. Nevertheless, the team successfully finished its 5-day assessment at the abovementioned barangay.

After which, the team proceeded to lowland areas where the other plantation establishment were situated. Hence, the team successfully ended its survey with a constructive and definite output.

The Project Management Office (PMO) Personnel and Staff initiated a series of clean-up activities at the Cantilan Municipal Mangrove Nursery, located at Abacahan River of Brgy. Magasang, and at the Cantilan Municipal Nursery, situated at Brgy. Calagdaan, inside the MAO compound. This is in line with the preparation of LGU- Cantilan for the National Search for Malinis at Masaganang Karagatan (MMK), which will be held on August 1-5, 2022.
