The Local Government Unit of Caoayan invites you to explode onto the scene in our electrifying Street Dance & Showdown Competition on November 15,2024.
Let your energy flow as you interpret the vibrant tapestry and resounding sound of culture and heritage of our municipality!

STREET DANCE & SHOWDOWN COMPETITION 2024 (OPEN CATEGORY)
This competition depicts the Caoayano’s colorful view on life amidst painstaking labor and difficulties of living. Due to its geographical location, fishing has been the main source of livelihood of the inhabitants. Next is agriculture where farmers plant onions, tomatoes, rice and corn. The town is also known for its loom-weaving industry which dates back before Spanish regime. Abel is a sign of creativity amidst hard labor, ingenuity besides pain and beauty in complexity. Just like the Caoayanos find ways to make a majestic tapestry of love, hope, hard work and a resounding sound of culture and heritage.
OFFICIAL GUIDELINES FOR THE STREET DANCING AND SHOWDOWN COMPETITION 2024
1. Concept or theme for the performance, costume and props must depict the culture, tradition and heritage of our town such as rituals, religious practices, farming, fishing, loom weaving and other Caoayano way of living;
2. There will only be one (1) category. It can be mix of students, freelance dancers or any who
can perform and willing to represent their group.They should be at least 10 years old and above;
3. Each contingent should have a minimum of 40 dancers excluding props men. Props men should
be equal but not be greater than the number of the main dancers;
4. Caoayan Hymn will be used as the official music during the street dancing competition.
The music for the street dancing parade will be provided by the organizing committee;
5. MUSIC- Canned music will be used for this year’s street dancing and showdown.

6.Each contingent will be given 4-6 minutes to perform during the showdown competition. Ingress and Egress will be 5 minutes;
7.COSTUMES- all participants SHOULD be in their ILOCANO COSTUMES with 30% abel cloth
embellishments. A special award will be given to the contingent who has the best costume;
8. The use of flammable materials such as pyrotechnics is strictly prohibited. As safety reminder,
contingents are discouraged from performing dance movements that unduly endanger their safety
of the dancers/performers;
9. Sets will not be used in the street dancing parade. Sets will only be used in the showdown with a measurement not higher than 15 feet. Riser, panels, backdrops are not allowed during the street dancing parade..
10. The competition be will be held on November 15, 2024. Assembly time of contingents for the
street dancing shall be at 2;00 PM at Caoayan Boardwalk & Tourism Center, Barangay Pandan,
Caoayan, Ilocos Sur;
12. Showdown will start at 6;00 PM at IPQ Gymnasium;
13. The decision of the Board of Judges shall be final and unappealable.
