In line with this yearβs theme, the DOLE-RO8 has lined up a series of activities aimed at expanding employment opportunities and strengthening livelihood support for workers and jobseekers in the region.
Highlight of the celebration is the conduct of simultaneous job fairs in various strategic locations to bring employment opportunities closer to the public. On May 1, job fairs will be held at the Tacloban City Convention Center in Tacloban City, Ormoc City Superdome in Ormoc City, and Samar Convention Center in Catbalogan City.
Additional job fairs are scheduled on May 4 at the Provincial Capitol Gymnasium in Borongan City, Eastern Samar, and from May 4 to 5 at the Social Action Center, Capitol Grounds, Brgy. Calumpang, Naval, Biliran. Meanwhile, on May 5, another job fair will take place at Catarman Freedom Park in Catarman, Northern Samar.
As of April 23, 2026, a total of 106 local employers has confirmed participation in the scheduled job fairs, offering more than 3,300 job vacancies across various industries, providing a wide range of employment options for jobseekers.
Apart from job facilitation services, DOLE-RO8 will also conduct awarding of livelihood assistance and emergency employment under its flagship programs DOLE Integrated Livelihood Program and TUPAD. These initiatives aim to support vulnerable sectors, promote inclusive growth, and provide sustainable income opportunities for beneficiaries.
As in previous years, DOLE-RO8, in collaboration with its partner government agencies, will again make Kadiwa ng Pangulo part of this yearβs Labor Day celebration, making local products available at the venues at reasonably cheaper prices.
Through these activities, DOLE-RO8 continues to advance decent work, strengthen partnerships with stakeholders, and contribute to the realization of a more inclusive and progressive Eastern Visayas.
