TEAM PNP BRINGS HOME MEDAL HAUL FROM 2022 WORLD POLICE AND FIRE GAMES
The Philippine National Police (PNP) delegation emerged triumphant in the just concluded 2022 World Police and Fire Games held in Rotterdam, The Netherlands.
This international sporting event was held from July 22 to 31, 2022.
The 14-member PNP Taekwondo Team from the PNP Headquarters Camp Crame bagged the overall title in the Taekwondo competitions. Harvesting 17 gold, 10 silver, and 9 bronze medals, while the “PilipinasPuso” Volleyball Team from the PNP Regional Office 11 in Davao City finished third place in the indoor volleyball competition.
“We always support programs and activities that promote the physical development and wellness of our personnel. The actual competition is as important as the preparation that encourages them to live an active lifestyle,” PNP Chief Gen. Rodolfo Azurin Jr. said.
It is with pride that the PNP participated again in this year’s world stage wherein some 10,000 police, fire, customs and corrections officers gathered and competently showed their sports abilities.
“More than the medals they garnered, this experience enriched the values of our participating personnel while engaging with other athletes and promoting sportsmanship. In this way, they are champions in their own rights,” Azurin said.
Azurin sees this as a holistic approach in building the character of the PNP personnel.
Some 170 PNP representatives were in The Netherlands to compete in a number of sports competitions, including badminton, basketball, cycling, and track events.
