Inaprubahan ng Senate Committee on Local Government ang panukalang ipagpaliban ang Barangay at Sangguniang Kabataan elections (BSKE) na nakatakda sana sa November 2.

Sa panukala ni Sen. Francis Escudero, gagawin ang halalan sa ikaapat na Lunes sa November 2028.

Isinulong ding itaas sa limang taon ang termino ng mga barangay officials mula sa kasalukuyang apat na taon.

Inihain naman ang isa pang panukalang layong idaos ang halalan sa October 2027 para hindi kasabay ng All Souls' Day.

Umaasa ang COMELEC na maisasapinal ang schedule ng Barangay Elections sa Setyembre.

Miraflores, ang consolidated measure para sa panukalang "𝗔𝗑 𝗔𝗖𝗧 π—¦π—˜π—§π—§π—œπ—‘π—š π—§π—›π—˜ π—§π—˜π—₯𝗠 𝗒𝗙 π—’π—™π—™π—œπ—–π—˜ 𝗒𝗙 π—§π—›π—˜ 𝗕𝗔π—₯π—”π—‘π—šπ—”π—¬ π—’π—™π—™π—œπ—–π—œπ—”π—Ÿπ—¦ 𝗔𝗑𝗗 π— π—˜π— π—•π—˜π—₯𝗦 𝗒𝗙 π—§π—›π—˜ π—¦π—”π—‘π—šπ—šπ—¨π—‘π—œπ—”π—‘π—š π—žπ—”π—•π—”π—§π—”π—”π—‘, 𝗔𝗑𝗗 𝗙𝗒π—₯ π—’π—§π—›π—˜π—₯ 𝗣𝗨π—₯π—£π—’π—¦π—˜π—¦" na naglalayong gawing limang (5) taon ang isang termino ng Barangay at Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) officials mula sa kasalukuyang apat (4) na taon sa ilalim ng RA 12232.

Sa ilalim ng inihaing panukala, hanggang tatlong (3) sunod-sunod na termino ang maaaring manungkulan ang mga halal na barangay officials at 1 naman sa Sangguniang Kabataan Officials.

Itinatakda rin dito na ang susunod na Barangay at Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE) sa ikalawang Lunes ng Nobyembre 2028, bilang bahagi ng transition patungo sa limang taong termino. Pagkatapos nito, regular nang idaraos ang BSKE kada limang taon.

Bunga ito ng mga panukalang batas na inihain nina Representatives Marcelino C. Libanan, Christopher Sheen P. Gonzales, Janette L. Garin, David β€œJay-Jay” C. Suarez, Francisco Paolo P. Ortega V, Jefferson F. Khonghun, Ysabel Maria J. Zamora, Terry L. Ridon, Gerville β€œJinky Bitrics” R. Luistro, Jude A. Acidre, Joel R. Chua, Bernadette β€œDette” G. Escudero, at Alexander T. Pimentel.

Ang pag-apruba sa committee level ay bahagi pa lamang ng proseso ng lehislasyon. Panukala pa lamang ito at hindi pa ganap batas.

BARANGAY CAPABILITY TRAINING CONDUCTED βœ”οΈ

The Municipal Budget Office successfully conducted a one-day Barangay Capability Training attended by barangay officials and personnel. The activity focused on planning, budgeting, and the preparation of the FY 2027 Barangay Budget.

Through lectures and discussions, participants gained practical knowledge and guidance to strengthen fiscal administration, improve budget preparation, and support effective local governance.

The Municipal Budget Office extends its sincere appreciation to Mayor Arnold T. Betita II and MLGOO Sir Vicente Achiles Taypen for their support, and to Liga ng mga Barangay President Hon. Rowena Grace Bensurto for requesting the conduct of this training. We also thank all barangay officials and personnel for their active participation and support in making the activity a success.
