The essence of genuine love was beautifully expressed by Jerry B. Gracio as he shared that love is more than just a feeling—it is a commitment to another person’s well-being. He reminded us that while we often define love in different ways, its true meaning is found in the care and concern we extend to others.

He also emphasized that loving someone does not mean forgetting yourself. Instead, it means allowing your love to grow beyond yourself and choosing to become a source of compassion, support, and genuine care for the people you love.

‎The importance of unity and collective action was emphasized by Rian D. Marzol, Tindog Kabataan Member, as she shared a meaningful reflection on the strength found within the LGBTQIA+ community. She reminded us that real change begins with ourselves and the people around us, and that meaningful progress starts when we choose to take action.
‎
‎She also highlighted that one of the most beautiful things about the LGBTQIA+ community is the sense of belonging it provides. Through unity, support, and empowerment, the community continues to overcome challenges together. As we move forward, may we continue to uplift one another and create positive change—because nothing changes if nothing changes.

‎The reality of self-doubt and pressure was courageously shared by Dino V. Tendido, Miss Gay University 2026, as she reflected on how these emotions are a natural part of being human. Instead of allowing doubt to hold us back, she encouraged everyone to transform it into a source of motivation—one that inspires growth, self-improvement, and the confidence to become the best version of themselves.

‎She also reminded us that confidence is not something we are born with; it is something we build through perseverance and self-belief. By choosing growth over fear and refusing to settle for less than our potential, we discover that our greatest achievements begin the moment we believe in ourselves.

The struggle continues, and so do the stories.

In the fourth episode of Huruhimangraw sa Ibabao: The Podcast, we are joined by Rian D. Marzol, a Tindog Kabataan member whose work in storytelling and advocacy helps preserve and amplify LGBTQIA+ narratives. Together, we revisit the histories that shaped our communities, from the fight for dignity before Pride, to the Stonewall Riots that ignited a movement, the HIV/AIDS epidemic that tested resilience, and the solidarity that emerged in the face of loss and injustice.

As we reflect on the victories won and the challenges that remain, this episode reminds us that Pride is not only a celebration, it is a legacy of courage, compassion, and collective action. The fight for equality did not begin with us, nor does it end with us.

Join us as we honor the stories of resistance, remember those who came before, and continue imagining a future where everyone belongs.

We are still buzzing from the incredible energy at the Capitol Night Market last Wednesday, June 24, 2026. From powerful storytelling to brilliant cinematography, the entries proved that the future of Nortehanon filmmaking is bright and unapologetically proud.

Meet the creative minds behind the panel of judges for the Balangaw Short Film Competition.

Jerry B. Gracio, an acclaimed writer and poet, brings a storyteller’s eye and a deep appreciation for narratives that resonate with people. His expertise in writing and literature allows him to recognize stories that are authentic, compelling, and emotionally impactful.

Santy P. Leano, an artist and former UPAO Theater Adviser, offers a wealth of experience in performance and stagecraft. With a deep understanding of acting, character development, and visual expression, he brings a unique perspective on how stories are brought to life through emotion and artistry.

Benier C. Danque, a multimedia artist dedicated to capturing the raw, genuine stories that unfold behind his lens. He is the creative force behind Films by Ben Celis. With years of experience in on-site editing. His eye for cinematography, editing, composition, and visual storytelling helps evaluate the craftsmanship and creative ex*****on of the films.

Together, they generously lent their time, experience, and distinct creative perspectives in evaluating this year’s entries. Through their thoughtful deliberation, they helped celebrate the stories and filmmakers that make An Balangaw sa Ibabao a vibrant showcase of creativity and storytelling.
