𝗦𝗦𝗨 𝗧𝗕𝗜-𝗟𝗔𝗠𝗕𝗔𝗧 𝗦𝗵𝗼𝘄𝗰𝗮𝘀𝗲𝘀 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘁𝘂𝗽 𝗜𝗻𝗻𝗼𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗮𝘁 𝗟𝗡𝗨 𝗢𝗥𝗜𝗘 𝗙𝗮𝗶𝗿 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲

PALO, LEYTE — The Technology Business Incubator of Samar State University (SSU TBI-LAMBAT) actively participated in the Leyte Normal University (LNU) ORIE Fair 2026, held on March 3–5, 2026 at the LNU Palo Satellite Campus, highlighting innovative startup products developed through its incubation program.

The three-day event gathered innovators, researchers, entrepreneurs, and academic institutions from across Eastern Visayas to celebrate innovation, research, and entrepreneurship. SSU TBI-LAMBAT joined the fair to promote technology-based enterprises and showcase products developed by its incubatees.

Among the featured products at the exhibit were Cocowine, Seaweed Wine, and Seaweed Vinegar, which attracted strong interest from visitors for their unique use of locally sourced raw materials and value-added processing. These products demonstrate how research and innovation can transform agricultural and marine resources into competitive market offerings.

In addition to startup products, TBI-LAMBAT merchandise was also displayed, further promoting the incubator’s brand and its mission to support emerging entrepreneurs in the region.

The participation of SSU TBI-LAMBAT in the ORIE Fair underscores the university’s continued commitment to strengthening the innovation and startup ecosystem in Eastern Visayas by providing support mechanisms for technology-based enterprises and fostering collaboration among academic institutions.

In a continued effort to strengthen innovation ecosystems and expand strategic partnerships beyond Eastern Visayas, the Technology Business Incubator of Samar State University (TBI-Lambat) conducted a benchmarking and exploratory visit to the Mindoro State University (MinSU) i-BIBES Technology Business Incubator on February 9, 2026.

The visit aimed to initiate discussions on potential inter-regional collaboration between the two incubators, focusing on startup development, technology commercialization, incubation management, and ecosystem building. The engagement also served as a platform for sharing best practices and identifying opportunities for joint initiatives that could benefit technology-based startups in both regions.

TACLOBAN CITY — Samar State University (SSU) highlighted its innovation-driven initiatives during the Workshop on Building Resilient and Sustainable Communities in Eastern Visayas: A Social and Solidarity Economy Approach held on February 7, 2026 at XYZ Hotel, Tacloban City.

Dr. Vivian L. Moya of SSU’s Intellectual Property and Technology Business Development Office presented “Technology Business Incubation for Resilient and Inclusive Communities,” featuring the SSU TBI-LAMBAT experience in supporting startups and inclusive innovation in disaster-prone Eastern Visayas.

Earlier, Engr. Raven C. Tabiongan of the SSU- Samar Island GIS & Data Analytics Center shared project "TANAW" and innovations in mapping, geohazard simulation, and smart agriculture, highlighting the role of geospatial technologies in disaster risk reduction and climate resilience.

The workshop was spearheaded by Prof. Maria M. Ikeda of Kyoto Sangyo University and supported by a Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS) KAKENHI-funded research project, bringing together stakeholders from government, academe, and civil society to advance resilient and inclusive development in Eastern Visayas.

Samar State University’s Technology Business Incubator, TBI-LAMBAT, took part in the "Senior-Level Validation Meeting of the Samar Bamboo Industry Roadmap" held today at the President’s Ballroom of Northwest Samar State University (NWSSU).

The validation meeting forms part of the province-wide effort to strengthen the Samar Bamboo Industry Roadmap, an initiative led by Governor Sharee Ann Tan which aims to promote bamboo-based innovation, livelihood generation, enterprise development, and sustainable economic growth across Samar. Under her leadership, the Provincial Government is working closely with key institutions and stakeholders to build a unified strategy that will position bamboo as a driver of inclusive and green development for Samarnons.

The activity gathered key stakeholders from LGUs, the Province of Samar, NWSSU, DSWD, and partner agencies to validate roadmap pillars that will guide the province’s bamboo industry development.

SSU TBI-Lambat was represented by Dr. Vivian L. Moya, Director of the IPTBDO, highlighting SSU’s role in supporting bamboo innovation, enterprise incubation, and commercialization.

The meeting featured Dr. Proceso Fernandez of Ateneo de Manila University, as resource speaker, who emphasized the importance of building bamboo as a sustainable and competitive value chain industry for inclusive growth in Samar.

SSU TBI-Lambat remains committed to advancing bamboo-based startups and MSMEs as part of Samar’s green and resilient industry transformation.

The Department of Science and Technology Regional Office VIII (DOST VIII), in partnership with the USWAG Eastern Visayas Consortium, is conducting a strategic coordination meeting today at Samar State University (SSU) to finalize the 2026 development roadmap of the Technology Business Incubator LAMBAT (Local Alliance of Marine-based Businesses and Food Technology).

The activity underscores a shared commitment to advancing Eastern Visayas’ innovation and startup landscape by reinforcing support for technology-based enterprises and aspiring entrepreneurs.

TBI LAMBAT has been instrumental in guiding early-stage startups through mentorship, incubation programs, access to innovation resources, and linkages to broader networks. It continues to open doors for young innovators to develop sustainable business ideas and connect with emerging opportunities in the region.

Key discussions during the meeting center on widening the incubator’s reach throughout Eastern Visayas and positioning TBI LAMBAT as a permanent and vital component of the regional innovation ecosystem. The initiative aims to nurture long-term economic growth, encourage wealth generation through technology, and promote inclusive development across communities.

Ahead of the formal TBI-LAMBAT session, DOST VIII and consortium representatives also met with the Basey Association for Native Industry Growth (BANIG) Inc. to explore possible technology interventions that can assist in improving the design process of their woven products. By addressing the lengthy and labor-intensive nature of design development, the partnership hopes to accelerate production while ensuring craftsmanship, creativity, and quality remain at the forefront.

Samar State University stands firm in its mission to lead innovation in the region. 💡🚀

Through the collaborative efforts of the Intellectual Property and Technology Business Development Office (IPTBDO), the Innovation and Technology Support Office (ITSO), and TBI-LAMBAT, SSU took part in the renewal of commitment ceremony for DOST-supported Technology Business Incubators under the Higher Education Institution Readiness for Innovation and Technopreneurship (HEIRIT) Program during the TBI Summit held at Citadines, Bacolod City on November 7, 2025.

This renewed commitment strengthens SSU’s role in cultivating startups, advancing homegrown technologies, and building a dynamic technopreneurship ecosystem in Eastern Visayas. By transforming research outputs into meaningful solutions, SSU continues to fuel inclusive growth, generate livelihood opportunities, and promote an innovation-driven regional economy.
