Today: The City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) successfully conducted a Forum on the Solo Parents’ Act, attended by 100 solo parent participants.

This meaningful activity provided our solo parents with valuable information about their rights, benefits, and privileges under the law, while also strengthening their awareness and access to available programs and services.

The success of this activity would not have been possible without the dedication and commitment of City Mayor Dexter M. Uy and his unwavering support for our solo parents and their families.

Together, we continue to build a more caring, inclusive, and supportive community where no solo parent is left behind.

Earlier Today: August 20, 2026, the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO), in partnership with the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) and Barangay and Community Affairs Office (BACAO), successfully conducted the Barangay Council for the Protection of Children (BCPC) Functionality Assessment at the City Health Department Conference Room, Catbalogan City.

The activity brought together Barangay Chairpersons and Secretaries representing all 57 barangays of Catbalogan City. The assessment focused on reviewing and validating the implementation of the BCPC's mandated functions, programs, activities, documentation, and mechanisms for promoting and protecting the rights and welfare of children at the barangay level.

Through document review, validation, and discussions with barangay representatives, the assessment provided an opportunity to identify accomplishments, good practices, areas for improvement, and the necessary technical support to further strengthen the functionality of each BCPC.

The activity also emphasized the importance of strong coordination among barangay officials, CSWDO, DILG, and other concerned offices in ensuring that child protection mechanisms are functional, responsive, and sustained in every barangay.🧡🧡🧡

July 31,2026, The City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO), in partnership with the City Nutrition Council (CNC), successfully culminated the 52nd Nutrition Month Celebration through a meaningful Malunggay stem planting activity held at the City Plaza, Catbalogan City.

The activity brought together Day Care children, parents, Day Care Workers, and stakeholders in promoting food and nutrition security through sustainable practices. By planting Malunggay stems, participants were encouraged to establish home gardens and recognize the value of Malunggay as a nutritious and accessible source of vitamins and minerals for every family.

This simple yet impactful initiative reflects our shared commitment to building healthier communities and ensuring that every child has the opportunity to grow healthy and strong.

Together, let us continue making food and nutrition security a priority—one Malunggay tree at a time. 💚🌱

Following the fire incident in Barangay 11, Poblacion on July 26, 2026, the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) of Catbalogan City immediately provided emergency assistance to the affected family.

Relief assistance, including food packs, sleeping mats, clothing,and school bags, was distributed to address their immediate needs. A counseling interview was also conducted to assess the family's psychosocial condition and identify the appropriate interventions for their recovery.

The City Government of Catbalogan, through the CSWDO, remains committed to providing timely, compassionate, and responsive assistance to individuals and families affected by emergencies and disasters.

The City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) successfully conducted the Parent Effectiveness Service (PES) at Barangay Rama Sierra, Catbalogan City, on July 23–24, 2026.

The activity aimed to enhance parents knowledge and skills in effective parenting, with a focus on instilling proper values and fostering the holistic development of their children.

The CSWDO remains committed to continuing this program to empower parents with the knowledge, skills, and guidance they need to raise responsible, respectful, and values-oriented children, helping build stronger families and communities.

July 08,2026-In line with the 52nd Nutrition Month Celebration with the theme "Nutrisyon at Kalikasan, Ating Pangalagaan!", the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO), in partnership with the City Nutrition Committee, successfully conducted the kick-off activity through a Nutri-Walk around Catbalogan City.

The activity was participated by Day Care children together with their parents, Barangay Nutrition Scholars (BNS), Day Care Workers, and CSWDO staff under the Child Welfare Program, demonstrating the community's shared commitment to promoting proper nutrition while protecting our environment for a healthier and more sustainable future.

June 28-29, 2026

In celebration of Day Care Worker Week, with the theme " Mga Child Development Workers, Haligi ng Maagang Edukasyon Gabay sa Matatag na Kinabukasan ng kabataan". The City Social Welfare and Development Office successfully conducted a two-day activity at Balai Alejandro, Barangay 03 Poblacion, Catbalogan City.

Day Care Worker Week is a meaningful celebration that honors the dedication, hard work, and compassion of Child Development Workers who play a vital role in shaping the lives of young children. They provide quality early childhood education and create a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment where children can learn, grow, and thrive.

As part of the celebration, the Child Development Workers participated in various competitions and activities, including a singing contest, dance contest, spoken poetry, pre-demonstration teaching, quiz bee, best in chant, and the Best in Uniform competition. These events provided an opportunity for them to showcase their talents, creativity, knowledge, and skills. The activities also demonstrated that Child Development Workers excel not only in teaching and caring for children but also in performing, inspiring, and confidently displaying their diverse abilities.

The City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) successfully conducted the Training on the Development of IEC Materials to be used on different campaigns and activities on June 27–28, 2026, at the Catbalogan City Drug Rehabilitation and Reformation Center (CCDRRC), STEP-North, Brgy. Payao, Catbalogan City.

Facilitated by Mr. Albert Barcoma of the DepEd Schools Division Office of Catbalogan City, the activity gathered BCPC Child Representatives and Barangay Secretaries who developed IEC materials for various advocacy campaigns on Adolescent Reproductive Health (ARH), CEFMU, OSAEC, Teenage Pregnancy, Children’s Rights, and HIV/AIDS Awareness.

The training strengthened participants' skills in creating effective communication materials that promote awareness and protect the rights and welfare of children in their communities.

The Social Welfare Development Office successfully conducted the 2 days Skills Enhancement on "Training of Trainers on the System for Prevention, Early Identification, Refferal and Intervention of Delays, Disorders and Disabilities in Early Childhood (PEIRIDDDEC) at Balai Alejandro Barangay 03 Catbalogan City. The 2 days training covered the 8 lessons the Inclusion in Early Childhood, Introduction to PIERRIDDDEC, Developmental Milestone of Young Children, Developmentally Appropriate Practices, Characteristics of Children with Disabilities, Process Of Early Identification, Prevention Component and lastly the Process of Refferal.

The Skills Enhancement Training enhance the learning and growth of Day care worker's as they continue to serve as a facilitator to our young day care children's and this also promote an inclusivity and awareness of every children who had a person with disabilities in the community, as they gain knowledge in the said training on how to handle or manage with it.

The City Social Welfare and Development Office successfully conducted the Training on the Provision of Helpline Services on June 25–26, 2026, at Villa Josefa, Barangay 08 Poblacion, Catbalogan City, in partnership with Plan International Pilipinas and the Regional Sub-Committee for the Welfare of Children (RSCWC).

The activity was attended by Barangay Council for the Protection of Children (BCPC) members and Barangay Health Workers (BHWs). Participants enhanced their knowledge and skills through discussions on the CANE+D Protocol and Makabata Helpline 1383, facilitated by the Regional Sub-Committee for the Welfare of Children (RSCWC), as well as the OKY App and CEFMU, presented by Plan International Pilipinas.

This initiative strengthens the capacity of frontline service providers in promoting child protection, ensuring timely referrals, and improving access to child-friendly and adolescent-responsive services within the community.
