Ini nga mga siday amo an mga pulong han paghigugma, pamilya, kalibungan, pagtindog, ngan iba pa nga mga pamaagi han pagdumara han aton komunidad, nga naghahatag boses, paglaom ngan kalipay ha mga mambarasa.

Salamat ha Malacañang pinaagi han Komisyon sa Wikang Filipino (KWF) ngan ha tanan nga manunurat ug maniriday nga amo an naghatag hin duso para mahimugso ini nga proyekto. Derecho Uswag Catbalogan!

The first of three volumes, this covers many aspects of the Visayan life – from the environment including varied plants and animals to the people itself be it their nature, their faith, their arts and sciences or their language and writing. The later portions of the book also told of the day-to-day challenges of missionary work such as the locals’ resistance to the attempts at conversion. Meanwhile, the administrative side of evangelization also meant having to deal with raiders and pirates as well as deciding which towns should be merged.
All told through the eyes of Fr. Ignacio Francisco Alcina, a Jesuit priest assigned to the Visayas in the 17th Century, the descriptions and observations were so detailed and so comprehensive that it became a must-see reference material on all things Visayan – its history, culture, geography, flora and fauna. Still at its core – is the deeply personal musings and impressions of a man placed in a situation that is totally foreign to what he was accustomed to.

At 𝙆𝙄𝙉𝘼𝙏𝘽𝘼𝙇𝙊𝙂𝘼𝙉 𝘾𝙞𝙩𝙮 𝙈𝙪𝙨𝙚𝙪𝙢 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝘾𝙞𝙩𝙮 𝙇𝙞𝙗𝙧𝙖𝙧𝙮 every Thursday, we feature books, publications, magazines and other reading materials available at our facility.
This is under the initiative as managed by the Catbalogan City Tourism, Culture, Arts & Information Office (CTCAIO).
This is an effort to highlight and popularize available resources at the City Library as supported by City Mayor Dexter Uy towards the 2040 Derecho Uswag Development Agenda under the priority area.

The memorabilia, artworks and costumes displayed at the City Museum as part of the Manaragat Festival has attracted and enticed students and visitors to know more about the colorful past and diverse culture of Catbalogan.

By visiting the exhibits, they can re-live and understand the experiences, historical significance and the meanings behind each art piece and displays.

𝙆𝙖𝙣𝙖, 𝙥𝙖𝙜-𝘽𝙞𝙣𝙞𝙨𝙖𝙮𝙖 𝙣𝙖 𝙠𝙞𝙩𝙖!

Every Tuesday, we at 𝙆𝙄𝙉𝘼𝙏𝘽𝘼𝙇𝙊𝙂𝘼𝙉 𝘾𝙞𝙩𝙮 𝙈𝙪𝙨𝙚𝙪𝙢 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝘾𝙞𝙩𝙮 𝙇𝙞𝙗𝙧𝙖𝙧𝙮 will be featuring Binisaya or Waray-waray words as part of our renewed initiative as managed by the Catbalogan City Tourism, Culture, Arts & Information Office (CTCAIO).

This is an effort to highlight and popularize this intangible cultural heritage of Catbalogan City as supported by City Mayor Dexter Uy towards the 2040 Derecho Uswag Development Agenda under the priority area.

We were just about to write off Friday as another ordinary and uneventful day in the city museum- and very much looking forward to the weekend ahead. But towards the final hour a number of senior high students and a young family came by to take a look at the items in our exhibit.

We are just happy that even for that brief moment, we were able to open the doors of the city museum and serve them.

Youthful energy is not always about being constantly on the go. Sometimes it is found in the moments of stillness. It is manifested through the ability to focus and concentrate on the work at hand in order to achieve one's goals. In this regard, the City Library is bursting with it.

Long before he became a six-time Emmy Award winning writer for Sesame Street and a prolific author of children's books, Bo Willems was just a young lad fresh off college wanting to see the rest of the world. And so he did. With a sketchbook in tow, Willems documented every part of his travel by drawing everything that caught his attention - or humor for that matter. What came as a result is 393 pages of witty and funny sketches of random day-to-day scenes of human nature at play. But more than just being a book about humor, this work is also a personal memoir brimming with optimism and carefree outlook that has seen the author throughout this journey and into a career of entertaining children through his books.
