The City Social Welfare and Development Office, in partnership with BJMP and PNP-WCPD, successfully conducted the Women’s Support Services Caravan and Referral Desk as part of the National Women’s Month Celebration 2026.

Anchored on the theme “WE for Gender Equality and an Inclusive Society,” the activity provided essential services to the community, including legal assistance, counseling, health check-ups, and gender-based violence awareness. The caravan also strengthened referral systems and promoted women’s rights through information sessions and advocacy booths.

With the support of various LGU offices and partners, the initiative reached over 200 beneficiaries and facilitated numerous referrals—reinforcing the city’s commitment to gender-responsive and inclusive governance.

30th Child Sexual Abuse Awareness Week: CSAAW

The activity aimed to increase awareness among parents, guardians, youth, barangay officials, and community stakeholders regarding the different forms of child sexual abuse, early warning signs, preventive measures, and the proper reporting and referral pathways. Emphasis was given to the importance of creating a child-friendly and safe environment within the barangay.

During the discussion, key topics included:

Understanding Child Sexual Abuse and its various forms (online and offline exploitation)

Recognizing behavioral and physical indicators of abuse

Legal frameworks protecting children, including the provisions of Republic Act No. 7610 and Republic Act No. 11930

The role of barangay officials under Republic Act No. 9344

Proper reporting mechanisms through the Department of Social Welfare and Development, Philippine National Police Women and Children Protection Desk, and the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO)
