The Local Government Unit (LGU) of Cauayan City, through the Cauayan Cooperative Development Office, in collaboration with the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Isabela Provincial Office, successfully conducted a Packaging and Labelling and Product Sensory Evaluation Activity on 7 May 2026 at ICONIC Hotel, San Fermin, Cauayan City, Isabela.
The activity formally commenced with opening remarks from Ms. Sylvia Domingo, City Cooperative Officer of LGU Cauayan City, who underscored the vital role of product development in improving market competitiveness and enabling MSMEs to access broader market opportunities. She highlighted the success of local MSMEs as a testament to the impact of continuous innovation and capacity-building interventions.
A key component of the program was the presentation of DTI programs and services aimed at supporting MSME growth and development. This was followed by a technical discussion on Packaging and Labelling, facilitated by Ms. Mary Rose M. Dumpit, STIDS, focusing on compliance with mandatory labeling requirements and enhancing product marketability.
Participants also underwent a Product Sensory Evaluation, where newly developed products were assessed based on physical attributes, taste, aroma, and overall packaging presentation to ensure alignment with quality standards and consumer expectations.
Simultaneously conducted during the activity was an Onsite Product Labelling Design Session, wherein in-house designers assisted MSMEs in improving the packaging and label design of more than twenty (20) food and non-food products.
Furthermore, upcoming marketing activities and participation requirements were presented to guide MSMEs in preparing for trade fairs and market linkage opportunities. Participating enterprises expressed their commitment to comply with the necessary permits and registration requirements to qualify for future product screenings and promotional activities.
The activity concluded with the awarding of certificates to participants and facilitators in recognition of their active participation and contribution to the success of the program.
Overall, the initiative reinforced the continued partnership between LGU Cauayan City and DTI in enhancing product quality, strengthening enterprise competitiveness, and supporting the sustained growth of local MSMEs toward wider market access.
