Leadership training equips students with skills and awareness
Students of Our Lady of the Pillar CollegeโCauayan, Inc. (OLPC-C) Junior High School department gathered for an enriching Leadership Training facilitated by the Supreme Student Government (SSG) under the guidance of their adviser, Milenio A. Francisco. The event aimed to shape responsible, empathetic, and proactive student leaders through a series of insightful discussions held at the campus, December 3.
The program opened with a timely and meaningful talk on Su***de Prevention, delivered by the first speaker, Jenaro Al I. Valencia, LPT, RGC, RPm, MAGC, head of the Counseling and Guidance Services of OLPC-C. He emphasized the importance of recognizing warning signs, offering support, and fostering a compassionate environment within the school community. He also encouraged students to be attentive to their peers and highlighted available resources that promote mental well-being.
Following the first session, the training shifted its focus to strengthening interpersonal and leadership skills. The second speaker, Sherwin R. Magmanlac, CPA, MBA, delivered an engaging lecture on Leadership, covering key qualities such as confidence, decision-making, and teamwork. He urged participants to lead by example and use their influence to create positive change in both the school and the wider community.
In the afternoon, the students participated in an obstacle course activity organized to promote physical fitness and teamwork. The obstacle course included various challenges such as running, crawling, jumping, and balancing. Students eagerly took turns completing the course while their team mates cheered them on. Supreme Student Government (SSG) officers supervised the activity to ensure safety and fair play. Overall, the activity was enjoyable and helped students develop coordination, confidence, and cooperation while having fun together.
