AYAW SA PRE-MARITAL S*X

Due to the open and wrong presentation of s*x anywhere, may it be on television, prints and advertising, this affects our children and youth. It is our responsibility to inform our young generation of God’s gift to man when it is done in a proper way.

Alarmed by the 12,970 teenage pregnancy cases recorded in Isabela province in 2013, Cauayan City officials have launched a continuous and wider information dissemination drive in schools in an effort to stop the increase in unwanted teenage pregnancies in the city.

CONCERNING DRUG ABUSE
According to a drug study [1983-1992], drug use is most prevalent in the fifteen to twenty-four age group. A 1996 survey stated that 1.6 million of youth, ages 15 to 30, tried illegal drugs and 1.3 million claimed to have sold drugs. Of 4,476 cases admitted to rehabilitation centers, 68% were ages 15 to 34. A 1997 study showed 2.1 million youth in drug abuse.

CONCERNING SUICIDES
Suicides among youth are on the rise. A World Health Organization (WHO) study on su***de prevention, listed 848 su***des in 1993, three times the annual average in 1992. 68.9% of su***des are committed by youth ages 15 to 34.

CONCERNING PRE-MARITAL S*X
In a 1996 nationwide survey by the social weather Station for the National Youth Commission, of the 2.7 million youth ages 15 to 29, 13% have had pre-marital s*x. One million did it with pay (paid s*x). 1.7 million claimed to have had it against their will, and 828,000 forced their partner to have s*x with them. According to a non-government organization [HAIN, Feb. 2000], 1.8 million males and 700,000 females, aged 15 to 24, practice pre-marital s*x.
The UP (University of the Philippines) International Study [1994] discovered that 1.4 million or 74% of the 1.8 million s*xually active youth, aged 15 to 24, do not use any form of contraceptive. 78% of the males never use condom and 60% of them had commercial s*x.
Mothers, aged 15 – 24, account for 30% of all births and 74% of all illegitimate births. [Population Commission, 2001] 36% of young women had conceived before marriage [National Census and Statistics Office, 1998].
