On Thursday, March 19, 2026, the BRP Ladislao Diwa (PS178), led by its Commanding Officer, CDR RICHARD C PALIGSA PN, was proudly recognized by Western Naval Command (WNC) for its invaluable service and unwavering dedication of the crew during its remarkable deployment in the WNC Area of Operations.

Beyond the steel and engines, the crew are the soul of every successful mission. Through turbulent seas and high-stakes missions, the crew remained at the vanguard of maritime security, proving courage and professionalism while safeguarding the nation’s western frontier. Their sacrifices and tireless service are what truly uphold peace, security, and our national sovereignty.

Today, we don't just celebrate a milestone; we celebrate the spirit of every Filipino sailor.

📸LOOK | TECHNICAL INSPECTION AND ACCEPTANCE OF ADVANCED COMMELEX EQUIPMENT FOR BRP LADISLAO DIWA (PS178)

The Technical Inspection and Acceptance Committee (TIAC) headed by CDR CIMATU PN together with LCF6 CDR FRIAS PN conducted a comprehensive inspection and evaluation of the newly acquired COMMELEX equipment. This newly purchased equipment for CCPV's is expected to enhance the operational capability of PS178 by ensuring sustained interoperability with other floating assets and with other units across the force with higher level of security.

The successful inspection and evaluation of this newly acquired COMMELEX equipment represent a critical milestone in the modernization of the Philippine Navy’s littoral capabilities. By integrating these high-security systems into PS178, the Navy is effectively bridging the gap between disparate units. This technological upgrade ensures that PS178 can maintain a seamless, encrypted, and real-time link with both sister ships and shore-based commands. Ultimately, this sustained interoperability is the backbone of a unified maritime force, allowing for synchronized maneuvers and rapid response in complex security environments, ensuring that the fleet operates not as individual vessels, but as a singular, cohesive entity.

“Strong foundations build mission-ready forces.”

The Naval Chief Engineer (TNCE), CAPT JULIUS MAGNO JR, PN(GSC), and party, visited Naval Detachment Oyster Bay (NDOB) on 12 February 2026 primarily to assess the ongoing infrastructure projects at NDOB Pier.

The visit focused on evaluating the progress, structural condition, and implementation status of current construction works, as well as reviewing proposed projects programmed for ex*****on. Particular attention was given to compliance with engineering standards, design specifications, and operational requirements to ensure long-term functionality and sustainability of the facility.

Through this inspection, TNCE emphasized the importance of well-planned, structurally sound, and properly maintained facilities in strengthening mission capability and supporting sustained naval operations. This is the role of TNCE in sustaining operational readiness.

On 01 December 2025, BRP LADISLAO DIWA (PS178) brought Christmas joy to the children of Barangay Bahile, PPC, Palawan as it spearheaded the heartwarming “Pamasko for a Cause” at Brgy. Bahile Covered Court in Puerto Princesa City. Carrying the theme “Barkong Bigay Saya: Pamasko Para sa Kabataang Bahile,” the activity created a festive and memorable experience for the community’s daycare students.

The celebration was filled with energetic games, laughter, and meaningful interactions. Children also received toys, school supplies, and snacks—thoughtful gifts aimed at brightening their day and making the holiday season more special.

More than safeguarding the country’s maritime domain, the Philippine Navy continues to strengthen its commitment to community service and nation-building. Initiatives like this highlight the Navy’s enduring mission to not only protect our seas, but also nurture strong, compassionate, and supportive ties with the communities we proudly serve.

📸LOOK | PN Chief Dental Surgeon Extends Dental Services Through Visit at NDOB and "Akyat Barko" Program

On 17 November 2025, COL WARLITO G. CHEE JR DS(GSC), the Chief Dental Surgeon of the Philippine Navy, visited BRP LADISLAO DIWA (PS178) as part of their "Akyat Barko" Program at Naval Detachment Oyster Bay.

As part of the activity, the Chief Dental Surgeon Philippine Navy and his team proceeded to BRP Laguna (LS501) where they conducted a Troop Information & Education (TI&E) session, provided onboard dental checkups, and distributed dental hygiene kits to PN sailors deployed at NDOB.

The initiative aims to ensure that personnel stationed in forward operating areas receive accessible dental care, timely health education, and essential hygiene support—contributing to improved morale, wellbeing, and mission readiness of our sailors.

The Philippine Navy Dental Service continues to uphold its commitment to safeguarding the health of our maritime guardians across all areas of deployment.

On 07 November 2025, REAR ADMIRAL VINCENT J SIBALA PN, Commander of the Western Naval Command (WNC), paid a visit to Naval Detachment Oyster Bay (NDOB) Pier in Brgy. Bahile, Puerto Princesa City, Palawan. He was cordially received by the Commanding Officers and crew of the various naval vessels currently docked at the pier.

The visit served as an important platform for Rear Admiral Sibala to personally assess the operational status, readiness posture, and logistical requirements of the deployed naval assets under his command. It also provided an opportunity to engage directly with the sailors, ensuring that their morale, welfare, and professional development remain top priorities within the Western Naval Command.

This visit reaffirms the Philippine Navy’s steadfast commitment to defending national sovereignty, ensuring maritime security, and upholding the rights and interests of the Filipino people in the region.

On September 12, 2025, the dedicated men and women of BRP Ladislao Diwa (PS178) gathered for a special Thanksgiving Mass and Blessing of the Ship, led by the Command Chaplain LTC WALTER A TAMBOONG CHS. It was a heartfelt moment to give thanks for two years of safe and successful service to our nation.

As we look back on the ship’s journey, we’re also looking ahead with renewed commitment. BRP Ladislao Diwa PS178 and its crew stand ready for more years of serving our country and protecting our seas. The Philippine Navy remains steadfast in its commitment to safeguard our maritime domain, strengthen our unity as a maritime nation, and ensure that our waters continue to serve as the lifeline of our national identity, security, and progress.
