Lieutenant Colonel Dominic Lew of the Republic of Singapore Navy (RSN) paid a courtesy visit to the Philippine Navy Headquarters on September 3, 2026, as part of the 8th Philippine Navy–Republic of Singapore Navy Conference being held in Manila from September 2 to 4.

The conference brings together naval personnel from the Philippines and Singapore to exchange insights and discuss shared operations of mutual interest.

Advances Maritime Cooperation: India Defense Attaché pays visit to SSC, PN

Fort San Felipe, Cavite City – The Defense Attaché of India to the Philippines, Captain Chandra Kant Kothari, visited the Sea Systems Command, Philippine Navy (SSC, PN) and paid courtesy call to Commander, SSC, PN Rear Admiral Juario C Marayag PN on September 1, 2026.

The visit gave opportunity for the Command to underscore its capabilities and functions, particularly in the areas of naval systems engineering; shipbuilding; ship maintenance, repair and sustainment; naval systems development; logistics support, and other activities - which all contribute to the operational readiness of the naval fleet.

Meanwhile, Captain Kothari was accorded Sideboys Honors and warmly-received by the SSC, PN leaders together with Captain Jirreh C Castillon PN(GSC), Commander, Am******on and Explosives Center, Philippine Navy; followed by traditional Command guestbook signing.

Likewise, an executive session was also conducted at the Commander’s office wherein both leaders exchanged insights and discussed matters of mutual interest, including the ASEAN-India Maritime Exercise (AIME) 2026.

The visit reinforced the enduring friendship and strengthened defense cooperation between the Philippines and India, while fostering greater understanding and professional exchange between respective maritime defense institutions.

FORT SAN FELIPE, Cavite City – The Commander, Littoral Combat Force, Philippine Fleet (LCF, PF), Commodore Oliver B Reforba PN, and Commander, Air Warfare Force, Philippine Navy (AWF, PN), Commodore Nerelito P Martinez PN, visited Headquarters, Sea Systems Command, Philippine Navy (SSC, PN) and paid a courtesy call on Commander, SSC, Rear Admiral Juario C Marayag PN, on Tuesday, September 1, 2026.

Sideboys Honors were accorded to both Commanders, followed by the signing of the Command’s guestbook.

The courtesy call provided an opportunity for the senior naval leaders to exchange insights on matters of mutual interest concerning naval operations, maintenance support, and capability development.

The visit highlighted the vital importance of sustained collaboration and interoperability between key operational forces and support commands in enhancing fleet readiness and advancing the Navy’s modernization goals in safeguarding the nation’s maritime interests.

SSC,PN Pins ranks to newly-promoted enlisted personnel

PINNING OF RANKS | The Sea Systems Command, Philippine Navy (SSC, PN), conducted a Pinning of Ranks Ceremony for its newly promoted Enlisted Personnel on Tuesday, September 1 at the NSSF Gazebo, Fort San Felipe, Cavite City.

Presided by the Commander SSC,PN Rear Admiral Juario C Marayag PN, a total of seventeen (17) Enlisted Personnel were pinned with higher ranks from apprentice seaman to seaman second class.

In his remarks, Rear Admiral Marayag congratulated the newly-promoted personnel and recognized their discipline, perseverance, and unwavering commitment to the service. He reminded them that promotion is not a final destination, but a transition to greater responsibility and accountability.

The Commander, SSC,PN, further challenged the newly promoted personnel to reject the mindset of simply gaining authority, but as a greater responsibility to lead by example. He emphasized that higher rank demands higher standards of conduct, humility, integrity, and dedication to duty.

The Sea Systems Command, Philippine Navy (SSC,PN), through the Field of Specialization Center, participated in the Bayanihan Para sa Balikbayan Manggagawa: National Reintegration Network (NRN) and Jobs Fair held at San Andres Sports Complex Malate, Manila on August 26, 2026.

As part of its recruitment efforts, the Command put up a recruitment booth featuring opportunities for Science, Engineering and Technology Courses graduates. Likewise, information materials and flyers were distributed to interested individuals.

Organized by the Department of Migrant Workers – National Capital Region (DMW-NCR), the activity aimed to support the sustainable reintegration of returning and repatriated Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) by providing access to employment opportunities, livelihood and entrepreneurship assistance, skills development, psychological support, and other government services through a one-stop service platform.

The activity underscored the Command’s commitment to supporting government initiatives, strengthening its partnership with the civilian sector, promoting public awareness, and fostering goodwill within the community.

Philippine Navy ships stationed across the country and deployed at sea joined the Simultaneous Nationwide Blowing of Ships’ Horns on September 1, 2026, in celebration of the Maritime and Archipelagic Nation Awareness Month (MANA Mo) 2026.

24 Philippine Navy vessels, led by Presidential Yacht BRP Ang Pangulo (ACS25), other government agencies, Philippine-flagged vessels, several international-flagged vessels, and other maritime stakeholders, simultaneously sounded horns for one minute to express the Philippines’ identity as a maritime and archipelagic nation and highlight the importance of its seas and maritime resources.

The Philippine Navy emphasized the importance of maritime domain awareness, environmental stewardship, and youth participation in safeguarding the West Philippine Sea during the “Safeguarding Our Seas: Multi-sector Dialogue on Stewardship and National Duty” held on August 28, 2026, at the Gabaldon Room, Club Filipino in Greenhills, San Juan City.
Rear Admiral Roy Vincent T Trinidad PN (Ret)(Res), AFP Spokesperson for the West Philippine Sea, served as a discourse panelist during the high-level strategic forum, which brought together government officials, armed forces representatives, youth leaders, civil society advocates, and maritime experts to discuss national security, territorial defense, and environmental stewardship.

During the discourse, Rear Admiral Trinidad PN(Ret)(Res) highlighted the importance of maritime domain awareness (MDA) in understanding and protecting the country’s maritime spaces. He also discussed the environmental pressures facing the West Philippine Sea, emphasizing that efforts to safeguard the country’s maritime domain must also consider the protection and sustainability of its marine environment.

Rear Admiral Trinidad PN(Ret)(Res) further underscored that the measures being undertaken today are ultimately intended to secure the country’s maritime future for generations to come. He also highlighted the need to address misinformation and disinformation, particularly in the maritime domain, through greater public awareness, responsible information sharing, and informed engagement.

He likewise emphasized the power and potential of the youth in advancing maritime awareness and contributing to efforts to protect the country’s maritime interests. Their participation, he noted, is vital in ensuring that the responsibility of safeguarding the seas continues beyond the present generation.

National Security Adviser Eduardo Oban Jr. and Secretary of National Defense Gilbert Teodoro Jr. were among the speakers during the dialogue, which provided a platform for stakeholders from various sectors to exchange perspectives and strengthen a whole-of-nation approach to safeguarding the West Philippine Sea.

The Philippine Navy remains committed to strengthening maritime awareness, protecting the country’s maritime interests, and fostering cooperation among government, the military, civil society, the youth, and other maritime stakeholders toward a secure and sustainable maritime domain.
