𝐋𝐎𝐎𝐊: As part of its pre-anniversary activities, the Maritime Safety Services Command (MSSC), through the Medical Station Maritime Safety Services Command (MEDS-MSSC), conducted a Mobile PTB Screening and Eye Check-Up Program at the HMSSC Function Hall on 17 August 2026.
The activity was conducted in partnership with the Culion Foundation, the Office of the Provincial Health Officer of Cavite, and Optical Wise Optical Clinic and Contact Lens Center, bringing essential preventive healthcare services closer to MSSC personnel.
The program featured chest X-ray services, tuberculosis (TB) screening, TB 101 information sessions, health counseling on TB prevention and awareness, eye examinations and vision assessments, and access to quality eyeglasses at discounted rates.
A total of 131 personnel benefited from the Mobile PTB Screening Caravan and availed themselves of eye check-ups and vision assessments.
As the Command prepares to commemorate its 52nd Founding Anniversary, the initiative underscores MSSC’s continuing commitment to promoting the health and well-being of its personnel while strengthening the readiness of a healthy and mission-ready Coast Guard workforce.

𝐈𝐍 𝐏𝐇𝐎𝐓𝐎𝐒: Kicking off the month leading to its 52nd Founding Anniversary, the Maritime Safety Services Command (MSSC) recognized exemplary personnel and welcomed new badge holders during the Simultaneous Awarding Ceremony and MSSC Badge Pinning held in conjunction with the first Monday Morning Colors of August at the HMSSC Function Hall today, 03 August 2026.
Lieutenant (LT) John Patrick T Brito PCG, the Coast Guard Legal Unit – MSSC (CGLU-MSSC), was awarded the Coast Guard Outstanding Achievement Medal in recognition of his invaluable legal support to the Command through the preparation of legal comments, memoranda of agreement and understanding, legal advice, lectures, and other command-related undertakings.
Lieutenant Junior Grade (LTJG) Leigh Anne Awatin PCG, Medical Station Maritime Safety Services Command Cavite Buoy Base (MS-CBB), was also accorded the Coast Guard Outstanding Achievement Medal and Ribbon for her exemplary leadership and dedication in advancing the unit's medical and administrative functions. Her service as Medical Administrative Corps Officer, Executive Officer, and Acting Commanding Officer significantly contributed to the efficient delivery of healthcare services, organizational effectiveness, and mission accomplishment.
Meanwhile, LTJG Shelly Mae Casamar PCG of the CG Nursing Service Sub-unit Cavite Buoy Base(NSSU-CBB), on behalf of the twenty (20) personnel from the Medical Dispensary NHQ- PCG, Medical Station Maritime Safety Services Command-CBB and Coast Guard Dental Station- MSSC, received the Coast Guard Civic Action Ribbon for their participation in the Medical and Dental Mission conducted under the Masaganang Pilipinas Movement (MPM) in Bacoor City, Cavite, which provided essential healthcare services to more than 200 beneficiaries.
A highlight of the ceremony was the simultaneous MSSC Badge Pinning, where forty (40) officers and one hundred eighty-one (181) non-officers from various Maritime Safety Services Units officially received the distinctive MSSC Badge after completing at least one year of service with the Command and the prescribed maritime safety training.
In his message, VADM Basilio reminded the recipients that the badge is more than a symbol worn on the uniform, it reflects the competence, integrity, and responsibility expected of every member of the Command.

The MSSC Badge serves as the Command's distinct symbol of identity, embodying the trust, professionalism, and responsibility expected of every member. It likewise signifies each recipient's commitment to uphold the Command's mission of ensuring maritime safety through dedicated public service.
As one of the Command's pre-anniversary activities, the ceremony highlighted the people behind MSSC's accomplishments, honoring those whose excellence in service continues to propel the organization forward as it marks 52 years of innovation and excellence in maritime safety.

Good health is essential to mission readiness. In observance of National Diabetes Awareness Week, the Nursing Service Sub-Unit – Cavite Buoy Base (NSSU-CBB), in coordination with the Medical Station – Maritime Safety Services Command (MEDS-MSSC), conducted a lecture on the Prevention and Care for Diabetes for MSSC personnel on July 30, 2026, at the MSSC Function Hall, Naval Base Heracleo Alano, Sangley Point, Cavite City.
The session highlighted the critical role of early detection, proper diabetes care, regular exercise, balanced nutrition, and routine health screenings in preventing complications and maintaining wellness.
Through initiatives like this, the MSSC remains committed to fostering health awareness and ensuring the overall well-being and operational readiness of Coast Guard personnel.

𝗟𝗢𝗢𝗞: The Nursing Service Sub-unit Cavite Buoy Base (NSSU-CBB), Medical Station Maritime Safety Services Command (MEDS-MSSC), together with the Dental Sub Unit – Cavite Buoy Base (DSU-CBB), joined fellow healthcare professionals and volunteers in a Medical and Dental Outreach Program organized by the Masaganang Pilipinas Movement (MPM) at Molino Homes Gymnasium, Molino 3, Bacoor, on 25 July 2026.
The outreach activity benefited a total of one hundred sixty-seven (167) residents from the host community, who availed themselves of vital signs assessment, medical consultation, dental consultation, and tooth extraction. Beyond the delivery of essential services, the activity also promoted health awareness and encouraged residents to adopt healthier lifestyles.
The successful conduct of the outreach program underscores the value of collaboration among government agencies, faith-based organizations, and community stakeholders in delivering meaningful public service and making quality healthcare more accessible to underserved communities.
Through initiatives such as this, the Maritime Safety Services Command continues to support programs that promote public welfare, strengthen community partnerships, and contribute to the overall health and resilience of the Filipino people.
