Service Beyond Duty: 7FSSU Joins Tree Planting and Blood Letting for the 129th PA Anniversary

In celebration of the 129th Anniversary of the Philippine Army, the 7th Forward Service Support Unit (7FSSU) actively participated in a series of meaningful activities on 07 March 2026, highlighting the unit’s commitment not only to operational readiness but also to environmental stewardship and humanitarian service.

LTC MARY JILL M MANIGBAS QMS (GSC) PA, Commanding Officer of 7FSSU, led the Tree Planting Activity conducted at Brgy Tubigagmanok, Asturias, Cebu. The activity forms part of the Philippine Army’s environmental advocacy under the Army CARES Program, which aims to plant 129,000 trees nationwide in line with the celebration of the Army’s 129th founding anniversary. This initiative symbolizes the Army’s collective commitment to environmental preservation, climate resilience, and sustainable development. By participating in the tree planting activity, the unit not only contributes to the nationwide goal but also strengthens its partnership with the local community in promoting environmental awareness and protecting natural resources for future generations.

Simultaneously, personnel of the unit also participated in the Simultaneous Blood Letting Activity held at Chong Hua Medical Center, also in connection with the 129th Philippine Army Anniversary. During the activity, troops voluntarily donated blood as part of the Army’s continuing humanitarian initiatives aimed at supporting public health services and helping save lives. The activity further reflects the Army’s enduring commitment to serve the Filipino people not only in times of conflict but also through acts of compassion and civic responsibility.

Through these initiatives, the 7FSSU reaffirmed its dedication to nation building and community engagement while upholding the values of service, unity, and compassion that continue to define the Philippine Army for 129 years.

Sharing Hope and Smiles: 7FSSU Outreach Program

As part of the celebration of its 28th Founding Anniversary, the 7th Forward Service Support Unit, Support Command, Philippine Army conducted an Outreach Program on 19 February 2026 at the Children of Cebu, Inc. Parian Drop-in Center for Street Children.

The activity was led by the unit’s Commanding Officer, LTC MARY JILL M MANIGBAS QMS (GSC) PA, and it went beyond an anniversary activity as it provided a meaningful opportunity to share time, compassion, and hope with the children.

Smiles filled the room as the Tagahatag Troopers and children interacted, played, and shared stories. Through simple gestures like these, small acts of kindness create ripples of encouragement that can shape a bigger and brighter future for the next generation. What may seem ordinary to some can mean reassurance, belonging, and renewed hope to a child.

The presence of the 7FSSU personnel brought comfort and a sense of security to the children, which is an important part of their healing process as emphasized by Ms Fujiko De Vera, the center’s social worker. The visit was not only about providing assistance but also about building trust and showing that there are people who genuinely care for them.

For the personnel of 7FSSU, the outreach was a humbling experience. Beyond uniforms and daily duties, it was a moment to connect with the community and embody the true spirit of service.
As the unit marks nearly three decades of dedicated logistics support, this activity reflects a deeper mission of serving the people, showing that the greatest strength of the organization lies not only in capability but also in compassion.
