From capstone to company! We were thrilled to host BSIT students from Southern Mindanao Colleges last Wednesday, January 28.
UP Cebu inIT Incubator Manager, Jason Nieva, offered a deep dive into tech entrepreneurship at UP Cebu and provided a roadmap for building startups and answered burning questions on how to scale student projects into business ventures. Our Incubator Manager Jason Nieva was one of the resource persons during the RA1SE FORWARD Regional Technology Pitching Competition held in Tagbilaran City, Bohol. His topic was on "practical" valuation methods and how researchers can put an initial value on their innovations.

Our very own Incubator Manager, Jason Nieva, attended the Startup Ecosystem Mapping and Negros Oriental Ecosystem Builders' Assembly held in Silliman University. The event was made possible through DASIG Central Visayas in partnership with SInergy TBI, QBO, and the DICT Region VII - Central Visayas.

Mr. Nieva also gave the closing remarks saying that the activity is the first step in a collaborative journey to move from understanding the current innovation ecosystem of NIR to actively nurturing it.

We are excited and fully support the innovation-led future of NIR.

Coming up with a working innovation is like trying to start a fire. You need both fuel and a spark. Customer needs are the fuel and technical capability is the spark.

You can have the most technically capable team but without a genuine human problem to solve, then there's nothing to ignite. You can also learn what it is customer needs but without the needed technical ability then you'll be left with unfulfilled potential.

Lasting innovation happens when capability is applied to a deep-seated customer need and thus create creating a bonfire of progress that changes the game.

On August 4, the core team of DASIG Central Visayas met to discuss the final set of activities to be conducted under Track 2 of the ReSEED: DASIG VII Project. Present were representatives from UP Cebu inIT , CIT-U Wildcat Innovation Labs , and SInergy TBI.

Early today we had the final presentation of our interns from Sultan Kudarat State University - Isulan Campus. The internship was done online and after the assessment is done, UP Cebu inIT will decide if it will continue doing it not only for future batches of SKSU-Isulan Campus but also from other universities.
