The legacy to render services of love for all has never ceased to pour out; the flame is always being rekindled by the hearts of different men from different walks of life as they lay down their arms to fullest workforce. th about the endless contribution of development, humanitarian growth and real time assistance of in need and the betterment of what is of on hold. With the initiation of the Cebu City Government thru the Cebu City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (CCDRRMC) and with the unselfish efforts of Emergency Rescue Unit Foundation (ERUF), Barangay Basak Pardo along with all the barangay officials, workers and staffs were given the chance to attend the Barangay Disaster Brigade Seminar (BDBS) on December 28-30, 2007. And with that, participants were trained with emergency medical response and disaster preparedness schemes. Being trained and capable, the barangay was given with first aid equipment which served as the first rescue facilities Barangay Basak Pardo has gathered. The motivation coming from the excitement of sharing and imparting the skills handed down from the seminar has brought the Barangay Chairman now Cebu City South District Councilor ~ Hon. Tumulak the conclusion to continue and develop what has learned and make it beneficial to all; that started the initiation of Basak Pardo Emergency Response also known as by its acronym BPER [ˈbē-pər]. Since then BPER continued to deliver services which gradually started within the Barangay area and now currently extending efforts within areas of Cebu City as well as to other areas of the Province during natural calamities esp during major multi-casualty motor-vehicular accidents. BPER may have started discretely well but through continued emergency responses it has started to make Emergency Medical Services as add-on assistance by the Barangay. And as believed, Barangay Basak Pardo is the first among 80 barangays of Cebu City who provided this noble job ~ first of its kind in the city and of the whole province to have an Emergency Medical Services (EMS) on the barangay level. Even on its pioneering year in 2008, BPER has already been recognized of its services. Along with all the many heartfelt support BPER has from Cebu City Government, public and private agencies, BPER has been recognized and commended and these are just part of the many reasons why BPER is still motivated to continuously extend Pre-hospital Care and Emergency Medical Services.
