As part of efforts to assist commuters, especially workers and students, the Cebu City Government has launched its Free Bus Rides program beginning today, March 13, 2026.

The initiative aims to help residents who rely on public transportation, particularly during the late afternoon when many are heading home from work or school. The free bus rides will be available every Monday to Friday starting at 5:00 PM onwards.

According to the Cebu City Government, the program is intended to ease transportation costs and provide additional mobility options for commuters across the city.

Passengers are encouraged to check the posted route guide to see the designated bus routes and stops where the free buses will operate.

City officials also reminded commuters to remain orderly while boarding and to continue observing safety and courtesy while using the service.

The Cebu City Government continues to explore initiatives that support the daily needs of its residents, particularly programs that help make commuting more accessible and convenient for Cebuanos.

The Shear Line is now the prevailing weather system affecting Central Visayas following Tropical Storm Basyang.

According to PAGASA, the shear line forms when the cool, dry northeast monsoon (amihan) meets the warm, moist air from the Pacific, bringing cloudy skies, scattered to continuous rains, and possible thunderstorms.

Residents are advised to remain alert for possible flash floods and landslides, especially in flood-prone and mountainous areas, and to continue monitoring official weather updates.

CEBU CITY LAUNCHES REAL-TIME ROAD ACCESSIBILITY MAP FOR POST-TYPHOON UPDATES

To ensure safer and more efficient travel amid ongoing response and clearing operations, the Cebu City Government has launched the Road Accessibility Map, a live platform providing real-time updates on road conditions and accessible routes affected by Typhoon Tino. This is an initiative from the Department of Engineering and Public Works.

The map offers verified information to guide both responders and the public in navigating the city safely, especially in areas where road access remains limited due to fallen debris, flooding, or ongoing utility repairs.

As of 11:00 AM, November 7, 2025, the Road Accessibility Map reflects the latest validated data gathered from the Cebu City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CCDRRMO), barangay units, and partner response agencies. Updates are made continuously as new reports are received and confirmed.

The City Government reminds all residents to stay vigilant, follow official advisories, and prioritize safety when traveling through affected areas.

The death toll from Typhoon Tino now stands at 111 as of 7 p.m. Wednesday, November 5, 2025. The majority of fatalities were reported in Liloan (35) and Compostela (25). Cebu City and Mandaue City have also seen a significant impact with 12 deaths each.
