𝗗𝗢𝗛 𝗖𝗘𝗡𝗧𝗥𝗔𝗟 𝗩𝗜𝗦𝗔𝗬𝗔𝗦 𝗖𝗛𝗗 & 𝗖𝗘𝗡𝗧𝗥𝗔𝗟 𝗢𝗙𝗙𝗜𝗖𝗘 𝗠𝗘𝗡𝗧𝗔𝗟 𝗛𝗘𝗔𝗟𝗧𝗛 𝗗𝗜𝗩𝗜𝗦𝗜𝗢𝗡 𝗩𝗜𝗦𝗜𝗧 𝗖𝗘𝗕𝗨 𝗙𝗢𝗥 𝗙𝗜𝗘𝗟𝗗 𝗠𝗢𝗡𝗜𝗧𝗢𝗥𝗜𝗡𝗚

The Department of Health Central Visayas Center for Health Development through the Non-Communicable Diseases Section (NCDS) and the Central Office Disease Prevention and Control Bureau - Mental Health Division conducted a Monitoring and Evaluation of the Mental Health Program in various Local Government Units (LGUs) and medical facilities in Cebu last July 20-23, 2026.

The Monitoring Team was led by Dr. Gleah Jane T. Dominguez, Dr. Jessa Joy C. Malipot, Ms. Jeane Hazel S. Blanco, Ms. Kimberly Joy T. Dalit and DOH Central Visayas CHD NCDS Head Dr. Joan Antonette R. Albito. This aims to identify gaps in the mental health programs and substance-abuse intervention down to the grassroots level in making national policies effective in the future.

Within the 4-day monitoring and evaluation, the team visited the following:

- Cebu City Health Department
- Cebu City Office for Substance Abuse Prevention

- DOH-Treatment and Rehabilitation Center Cebu City
- Mandaue City Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Office
- Liloan Municipal Health Office
- Consolacion Primary Health Facility II
- Consolacion Municipal Anti-Drug Abuse Council

The DOH continues to assess its capabilities to further help our kababayans in-need especially in the field of mental health and substance-abuse that continues to plague Filipino families and communities.

DOH: Panatilihing Kontrolado ang Blood Sugar Para Maiwasan ang mga Komplikasyon

Ang diabetes ay maaaring magdulot ng mga seryosong komplikasyon tulad ng sakit sa puso, pagkasira ng bato, at pagkabulag.

Kaya mahalagang mapanatiling kontrolado ang blood sugar upang maiwasan ang mga ito. Kumain ng masustansyang pagkain, regular na mag-ehersisyo, inumin ang maintenance na gamot ayon sa payo ng doktor, at regular na magpakonsulta sa inyong healthcare provider.

𝗚𝘂𝗹𝗮𝘆𝗮𝗻 𝘀𝗮 𝗧𝘂𝗴𝗸𝗮𝗿𝗮𝗻 – “𝗕𝗶𝗻𝗵𝗶 𝗺𝗼, 𝗞𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗯𝘂𝗵𝗶 𝗸𝗼”

In the coastal municipality of Madridejos, Cebu, many families have learned to make the most of limited resources to meet their daily needs. For some, buying fresh vegetables is an added expense, while available spaces in their backyards often remain untapped.

Recognizing this need, the LGU of Madridejos, Cebu, in collaboration with the Philippine Multisectoral Nutrition Project and the Municipal Agriculture Office, introduced Gulayan sa Tugkaran – “Binhi Mo, Kinabuhi Ko”—a community-based initiative that empowers families to grow vegetables right in their own backyards.

In the upland areas of Barangay Canorong in the Municipality of Ginatilan, access to basic health services remains a challenge due to distance, poor road conditions, and lack of transportation. Among those who faced these difficulties is Rica Cadayday, a 22-year-old mother of four who recently gave birth to her fourth child. Like many women in her community, Rica depended on traditional practices and past experiences when it came to childbirth.
