The Department of Manpower Development and Placement (DMDP) successfully conducted the 10-Day JobStart Program Soft/Core Skills Training from May 11 to 22, 2026, equipping young jobseekers with essential life skills and workplace competencies necessary for a successful transition into employment.
Throughout the ten-day training, JobStart beneficiaries actively participated in interactive learning sessions facilitated by dedicated trainers from various offices of the Cebu City Government, including the Implementation Department and the Department of Manpower Development and Placement (DMDP). The training covered a comprehensive range of modules designed to develop the participants' personal, social, and professional competencies.
The beneficiaries underwent sessions on goal setting, personal values, responsibility, respect, communication, emotional intelligence, conflict and stress management, money and time management, teamwork, networking, self-confidence, problem-solving, workplace communication, digital literacy, customer service, work ethics, mental health, safe migration, career planning, professional branding, and job interview preparation. These modules were carefully designed to prepare participants not only for employment but also for lifelong personal and professional growth.
The training culminated in a Graduation Ceremony celebrating the successful completion of the program by the JobStart beneficiaries. The occasion was graced by Hon. Nestor D. Archival, Cebu City Mayor, whose presence underscored the City Government's commitment to empowering Cebuano youth through employment and skills development initiatives. Also present was the Officer-in-Charge of the Tri-City Field Office of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Region VII, reaffirming the continued partnership between the local and national governments in promoting youth employability.
As the graduates move forward to the next phase of the JobStart Program, which includes employment facilitation, job matching, technical training, and internship opportunities, they carry with them the knowledge, confidence, and skills gained from the Soft/Core Skills Training.
The DMDP extends its heartfelt gratitude to all trainers, partner agencies, resource persons, and stakeholders whose unwavering support contributed to the success of the program. Together, we continue to empower Cebuano youth and open pathways toward productive and meaningful employment.
