Cebu City Coalition of Anti-Drug Abuse Communities

Stigma, stereotyping and discrimination continue to be barriers in understanding the truth behind drug abuse and addiction.

The Coalition of Anti-Drug Abuse Communities of Cebu City is a Non-Profit, Non-Political Organization created in March of 2023 through the collective efforts of the Cebu City Anti-Drug Abuse Advocates together with various community partners and stakeholders, all passionate to inform and educate the Sugbuanons on the ill-effects of illegal substance, using a community-based approach. The coalition

of Anti-Drug Abuse Communities of Cebu City was born out of passion to address the urgent need to combat the stigma against drug abuse and addiction, especially on the underprivilege and vulnerable sectors, by providing education on the grass roots level. Vision:

A promising generation of Sugbuanons, who are informed, empowered and equipped to battle the ignorance on substance abuse and addiction. Mission:

Prevention - Engage and educate the public on substance abuse prevention through a holistic, localized, culturally-adaptive and crisis resilient approach. Inclusion - Inspire positive change by involving people who use drugs and other drug personalities and strengthening prevention and harm reduction strategies for all. Connection - Since the opposite of addiction is connection, our aim is to bridge the gab between the communities and that of the policy-makers. "Nothing about us, is for us, without us." Participation - Ignite communities and multi-sectoral groups to work together towards eradicating the stigma on drug abuse and addiction.

Every year on 26 June, the Dangerous Drugs Board (DDB) leads the Philippines in observing the 𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐃𝐚𝐲 𝐀𝐠𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐬𝐭 𝐃𝐫𝐮𝐠 𝐀𝐛𝐮𝐬𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐈𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐜𝐢𝐭 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐟𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 (𝐈𝐃𝐀𝐃𝐀𝐈𝐓), reaffirming the nation’s shared commitment to protecting individuals, families, and communities from the harmful effects of illegal drugs.

This year’s observance carries the global theme: “𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐥𝐝 𝐃𝐫𝐮𝐠 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐛𝐥𝐞𝐦: 𝐏𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐈𝐬𝐬𝐮𝐞𝐬, 𝐍𝐞𝐰 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐠𝐞𝐬, 𝐈𝐧𝐧𝐨𝐯𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐩𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐞𝐬.”

As drug-related threats continue to evolve across communities and digital spaces, the observance highlights the importance of prevention, awareness, compassion, and collective responsibility in safeguarding the well-being of every Filipino, especially the youth.

Through the Association of Anti Drug Abuse Coalitions of the Philippines Inc., the Cebu City Coalition continues to strengthen initiatives centered on prevention, reintegration, and community participation, recognizing that lasting solutions are built not only through enforcement, but also through education, support, and shared action.

This year’s IDADAIT observance reminds us that every sector of society has a role to play in promoting healthier, safer, and more informed communities.

The DDB encourages all Filipinos to take part in this year’s observance by supporting prevention efforts, promoting informed and healthy choices, and helping create environments where young people can grow with hope, opportunity, and protection from the harms of illegal drugs.

Together, let us continue fostering communities rooted in care, responsibility, and solidarity toward a safer and healthier future for all.
