LABOR DAY | Today, we remember not only the societal contributions of our manggagawas in nation building but also the ongoing fight for better wages, job security, and workers' rights. May we remember that their fight is our fight too.

EASTER SUNDAY | Easter whispers that endings are never final, that movements can be reborn, that courage can return even after the longest night. It is a reminder that the forces that try to hold us down are never stronger than the spirit that calls us forward.

GOOD FRIDAY | The cross calls us to recognize the suffering of those still crucified by systems of oppression: the exploited worker, the displaced refugee, the silenced activist, the communities ravaged by greed and indifference. Good Friday is not a passive mourning but a confrontation with the reality that injustice persists, and that faith demands we resist it.

MAUNDY THURSDAY | We remember the radical act of Jesus washing the feet of His disciples. This is a gesture of humility and service. It was not a passive ritual; it was a disruption of hierarchy and a reminder that true leadership is rooted in justice and compassion.

As we reflect on the Last Supper, we must also confront the tables that still need overturning in our own time: tables of exploitation and indifference. The bread broken and the cup shared are not symbols of comfort alone but are calls to embody love in action.

Let us wash the feet of our communities by fighting for dignity, equity, and peace. Let us break bread in defiance of division. Let us carry forward the spirit of service into movements that demand justice.
This night reminds us: faith without action is empty. Service without courage is incomplete. Love without justice is unfinished.

INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY | Filipino women have consistently shown strength and leadership in communities, workplaces, schools, and movements that challenge unfair systems and demand dignity and equal opportunities. Yet many women across the country still confront economic hardship, social expectations that limit their freedom, and structures that continue to privilege men in positions of power.

International Women’s Day therefore reminds us that the progress women have achieved was the result of collective struggle and that genuine equality cannot be achieved through recognition alone. It calls on society to listen to women’s voices and actively work toward a future where women are free from oppression and are able to participate fully and equally in shaping the nation.

EDSA I AT 40 | We remember the People Power Revolution, when millions of Filipinos stood together in peace along EDSA to call for change. Their unity and courage ended the rule of the dictator, Ferdinand E. Marcos, and brought back democracy to our country. May we never forget that real power comes from the people.

CELEBRATING 28 YEARS | What began as grassroots conversations among students, educators, campus ministers, and organizers grew into a movement committed to ethical leadership and collective empowerment. SPP became a space where dissent was principled, engagement was relational, and power was understood as something shared.

As new generations of Carolinians take on the task of leadership, SPP continues to stand as a reminder that real change does not come from loudness alone, but from clarity of purpose; not from factionalism, but from formation; not from popularity, but from principle.

𝐇𝐚𝐩𝐩𝐲 𝐍𝐞𝐰 𝐘𝐞𝐚𝐫!

2025 reminded us of the heavy burdens carried by the Filipino people. Communities endured displacement after typhoons, rising costs of living, and the daily grind of inequality. These struggles are not signs of resilience to be celebrated — they are symptoms of a system that continues to fail its people.

As we enter 2026, let’s stop romanticizing survival and start demanding real change. Recovery must mean more than bouncing back; it must mean building forward with justice and dignity.
