🛑 ENSURING A SAFE AND MOTIVATING LEARNING ENVIRONMENT 🛑
The Department of Education (DepEd) reiterates that violence, intimidation, and a lack of discipline have absolutely no place in our schools. Under DepEd Order No. 006, s. 2026, clear guidelines have been set regarding the offenses and penalties for non-bullying related incidents to maintain a safe environment for all learners and school personnel.
The policy outlines three levels of offenses and their corresponding disciplinary actions:
🔴 1st Level: Minor Offenses
These are violations that do not immediately cause severe physical, emotional, or psychological harm.
Examples: Profanity/indecent language, classroom pranks, spreading fake news/misinformation, and vandalism.
Penalties for Students: Ranges from a written reprimand and parent notification for the 1st and 2nd offenses, up to a maximum 5-day suspension with alternative learning modalities for the 3rd offense.
🔴 2nd Level: Serious Offenses
More severe or repeated violations that require stricter intervention.
Examples: Stalking within school premises, gambling, theft, smoking/vaping, and threatening/intimidating fellow students or school staff (personally or via social media).
Penalties for Students: 1st offense carries a maximum 5-day suspension and referral to the Social Welfare Development Office. Repeated offenses can lead to non-readmission for the next school year, or exclusion (being dropped from the class list) by the 3rd offense.
🔴 3rd Level: Severe Offenses
The gravest violations that demand immediate, urgent action.
Examples: Bringing deadly weapons, bomb threats/jokes, severe physical harm to students or personnel, cheating on exams, joining/recruiting for illegal fraternities/gangs, homicide/murder, and using/selling illegal drugs.
Penalties for Students: Strict consequences apply immediately. A 1st offense leads to non-readmission and law enforcement (PNP)/Social Welfare referral. A 2nd offense results in immediate exclusion from the school.
