THREE SUSPECTED βATIVAN GANGβ MEMBERS ARRESTED IN METRO MANILA
The Philippine National Police (PNP), through the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO), has intensified its campaign against organized criminal groups following the arrest of three individuals linked to the so-called βAtivan Gangβ during a series of coordinated operations in Metro Manila on May 4, 2026.
Operatives of the Manila Police District (MPD) conducted the operations after reports involving victims allegedly being drugged before losing personal belongings, cash, and other valuables.
Authorities said the suspects were also being investigated in connection with incidents involving unauthorized bank transactions and theft targeting both Filipino and foreign nationals.
Among those arrested were two female suspects apprehended in Manila and Makati City, while a male taxi driver believed to have served as the group's transporter was also taken into custody during a follow-up operation.
Recovered evidence and follow-up investigations further linked the suspects to several similar incidents previously reported in the National Capital Region.
The operation forms part of the intensified anti-criminality efforts of the PNP under the leadership of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and is aligned with the PNP Focused Agenda on Enhanced Managing Police Operations, particularly in addressing organized street crimes and protecting the public from emerging criminal schemes.
PNP Chief Police General Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr. commended the operating units for the successful operation and reminded the public to remain vigilant.
He added, βThis accomplishment reflects our continuing commitment to keep our communities safe through professional police work and close coordination with the public. We encourage everyone to immediately report suspicious activities so we can act swiftly and prevent more victims.β
The arrested individuals are now facing appropriate charges in court as authorities continue the investigation to identify other possible associates and victims connected to the group.
The PNP assured the public that operations against organized criminal activities will continue in line with Bagong PNP para sa Bagong Pilipinas: Serbisyong Mabilis, Tapat at Nararamdaman.
