ENTRY # 2 - DAVAO DE ORO

WRITTEN EXPLANATION

The poster embodies the theme “Sustaining the Flame: Institutionalizing Empowered Leadership, Strengthening Governance, and Advancing Development Pathways for a Future-Ready PYAP-AKO” by portraying the youth as the driving force behind sustainable progress, responsible governance, and transformational leadership. At the center, the young leader raising the torch symbolizes the enduring flame of empowered leadership—a beacon of hope, vision, resilience, and commitment that inspires every member of PYAP-AKO to lead with integrity and purpose. The surrounding youth, holding books, tablets, and a megaphone, represent education, innovation, advocacy, and active civic engagement, demonstrating that leadership is strengthened through collaboration, lifelong learning, and meaningful participation. The open book serves as the foundation of the composition, symbolizing knowledge, institutional growth, and the continuous development of competent leaders, while the supporting hands beneath it signify the guidance of communities, mentors, and government institutions that empower young people to sustain leadership across generations. Together, these elements illustrate that a future-ready PYAP-AKO is built upon strong institutions, shared responsibility, and empowered youth who are equipped to create positive and lasting change.

The interconnected elements also reflect the organization’s commitment to advancing the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The city skyline represents innovation, sustainable communities, and economic opportunities aligned with SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth), SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure), and SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities). The trees and green landscapes emphasize environmental protection and responsible stewardship, supporting SDG 13 (Climate Action) and SDG 15 (Life on Land). The interlocking puzzle pieces symbolize unity, inclusion, and collaboration among diverse sectors, reflecting SDG 10 (Reduced Inequalities) and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals), while the government building icon reinforces transparency, accountability, and participatory leadership in line with SDG 16 (Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions). A proud and meaningful milestone for PYAP Compostela, representing and empowering our Out-of-School Youth (OSYs), as we receive awards during the Drug Abuse Prevention Celebration last November 21, 2025 held at the Capitol Lobby, Provincial Capitol of Davao de Oro.

This recognition is a testament to the collective effort, dedication, and commitment of every PYAP member who continuously works toward promoting awareness, prevention, and positive life choices among the youth.

This achievement would not be possible without the strong leadership of the PYAP Federation Officers, headed by Rustyl Jay S. Diaz, whose guidance and vision continue to inspire active youth participation and meaningful community involvement.

We also extend our sincere appreciation to our Youth Focal Person, Ma’am Quennie Faye E. Bartolini, RSW, for her unwavering support, mentorship, and belief in the potential of our OSYs.

More than an award, this recognition celebrates the strength of unity, collaboration, and youth empowerment. PYAP Compostela remains committed to being a safe space for OSYs where they are heard, valued, and guided toward hope, responsibility, and a drug-free future.
