🏆 MUNICIPALITY OF CORDOVA ANNUAL FIRE AND EMERGENCY SKILLS OLYMPICS 🏆

The Municipality of Cordova, through the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO), proudly presents the Annual Fire and Emergency Skills Olympics as part of the celebration of National Resilience Month 2026.

📅 Date: July 29–31, 2026
📍 Venue: Centennial Road Grounds, Cordova, Cebu
👥 Participants: Barangay Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (BDRRM) Teams and Volunteers

This three-day event will showcase the knowledge, skills, teamwork, and preparedness of our Barangay DRRM responders through various emergency response competitions, including:

🚑 Emergency Medical Response
🏃 Obstacle Challenge
🤝 Teamwork, Unity, and Discipline

The activity aims to strengthen the emergency response capabilities of our barangays, promote volunteerism, enhance coordination among responders, and foster a culture of disaster preparedness and resilience within our community.

🌧️ TYPHOON "INDAY" & VOLCANIC ASH FALL ADVISORY
The Municipality of Cordova Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO) THROUGH ITS CHAIRMAN Mayor Cesar Suan urges all Cordovanhons to remain vigilant and prepared as Typhoon INDAY continues to affect our area. In addition, volcanic ash carried by the wind may pose serious health risks, especially to children, senior citizens, pregnant women, and individuals with respiratory illnesses.
⚠️ Health Risks of Ash Fall
• Difficulty breathing, coughing, and throat irritation
• Eye irritation and redness
• Skin irritation
• Reduced visibility and poor air quality
✅ Safety Reminders
• Wear a face mask (preferably N95 or KN95) when going outdoors.
• Wear protective eyewear if exposed to ash.
• Stay indoors and keep doors and windows closed whenever possible.
• Cover water containers and food to prevent contamination.
• Avoid sweeping dry ash. Use a damp cloth or lightly wet the ash before cleaning.
• Drive with extra caution, as roads may become slippery and visibility may be reduced.
• Monitor official weather updates and advisories from MDRRMO, PAGASA, and PHIVOLCS.
