A 27-year old drug suspect was killed and P6.8 million worth of shabu were seized in an anti-drug operation on Saturday evening in Mandaue City, Cebu.
PNP Chief Police General Dionardo B Carlos identified the slain drug suspect as JOMAR ESPINOZA of Barangay Tejero, Cebu City.
“ESPINOZA was killed after engaging arresting officers in a gunfight during the anti drug operation conducted by operatives of City Drug Enforcement Unit, Mandaue City Police Office at Purok Kiring, Brgy Casili, Mandaue City, Cebu”, PNP Chief Carlos said.
According to PNP Chief Carlos, EPINOZA and unidentified cohort fired upon the members of the operating unit prompting them to return the fire. As a result, Espinoza was seriously wounded and was brought to Eversley Child Sanitarium but was declared dead on arrival by the attending physician, Dr. Cedric Lester C Amodia.
Meanwhile, the unidentified cohort manages to escape onboard on a motorcycle and is now the subject of a manhunt operation of local authorities.
SOCO personnel processed the crime scene and recovered one large heat-sealed plastic sachet and four knot tied plastic packs containing suspected shabu weighing more or less 1,000 grams with an estimated standard drug price of Php6,800,000.00, buy-bust money, one caliber .38 revolver, five fired cartridge cases of caliber 9mm, one fired cartridge case of caliber .38, one backpack and one helmet.
“Tayo ay patuloy na nananawagan sa ating mga kababayan na itigil na nila ang pagbenta ng iligal na droga sapagkat ito ay salot sa lipunan na sumisira ng buhay at kinabukasan”, PNP Chief Carlos further added.
