The Ministry of Environment, Natural Resources, and Energy – Maguindanao del Norte (MENRE-MDN) actively participated in the Philippine National Arbor Day 2025 celebration through a large-scale Tree Planting and Growing Activity held on June 25, 2025, at Camp Iranon (formerly Camp Abubakar), Barira, Maguindanao del Norte.

The event was hosted by the 1st Marine Brigade and spearheaded by Kutawato Greenland Initiatives, Inc. (KGI), in collaboration with BARMM ministries, youth, and civil society organizations. Nearly 600 seedlings of Narra, Raintree (Acacia), African Tulip, Bamboo, Dao, and Mahogany were planted as symbols of peace, resilience, and environmental restoration under the theme “A Tree of Peace Towards Unity and Co-Existence in BARMM.”

Forester Mark Erickson Arañas Laurie of MENRE-MDN demonstrated proper planting techniques to ensure sustainable growth. The activity also featured a symbolic visit to the House of Salamat and a signing of commitment to environmental peace.

MENRE-Maguindanao del Norte, in partnership with KGI, remains committed to restoring ecosystems and empowering communities toward a greener, more resilient Bangsamoro.

PENREO-MDN AND MDS EMPOWER EMPLOYEES THROUGH FINANCIAL ORIENTATION WITH LAND BANK

LOOK | The Provincial Environment, Natural Resources and Energy Offices of Maguindanao del Norte (PENREO-MDN) and Maguindanao del Sur (PENREO-MDS), in partnership with Land Bank of the Philippines – Rosary Heights Branch, conducted a Financial and Digital Banking Orientation on May 6, 2025, at the Conference room, MENRE Executive Building, Cotabato City.

The activity aimed to enhance employees’ understanding of the Land Bank’s digital banking systems and financial services, particularly in response to the recent administrative division of Maguindanao. Key topics included salary loan eligibility, features of the Borrower's Classification (BC) list, ATM Payroll services, account management, and the WE Access System. Employees were also introduced to various loan products, including home, vehicle, and small business loans.

Moreover, a clarification session was held to guide personnel through the adjustments in payroll systems for PENREO-MDN and MDS resulting from the provincial split.

The orientation was delivered by Mr. Neil John Gretare, Customer Service Associate, and Ms. Analyn Quiring, Branch Head of Land Bank – Rosary Heights. It was spearheaded by Forester Lauban S. Abdul, PENRE Officer – Maguindanao del Norte; Forester Datumama K. Makartur, Officer-in-Charge PENRE Officer – Maguindanao del Sur; Forester Faisal U. Akmad, CENRE Officer – Maguindanao del Norte, Sheryl L. Oclaman, Administrative Officer V – Maguindanao del Norte, together with their administrative staff and employees from both provinces.

This initiative strengthened the collaboration between PENREO-MDN, PENREO-MDS, and Land Bank, equipping employees with vital financial knowledge and reaffirming their joint commitment to workforce empowerment and more effective public service in the Bangsamoro region.

OFFICIAL TURN-OVER OF PROJECTS FROM PENREO – MAGUINDANAO DEL NORTE TO PENREO – MAGUINDANAO DEL SUR

COTABATO CITY – In line with the administrative reorganization of Maguindanao into two provinces, the Provincial Environment, Natural Resources and Energy Office (PENREO) of Maguindanao del Norte formally turned over all pending environmental projects to the newly established PENREO-Maguindanao del Sur on May 8, 2025, at the PENREO-Maguindanao del Norte Office, Bangsamoro Government Center, Cotabato City, ensuring a smooth transition, accountability, and continued implementation of environmental initiatives in Maguindanao del Sur.

The projects turned over include the construction of nursery buildings in South Upi and Buluan under Special Development Fund (SDF) -2021, several Integrated Bangsamoro Greening Program (IBGP) initiatives for 2023–2024, and various Ligawasan Marsh and Watershed Rehabilitation efforts under SDF 2020–2021.

In addition, the turnover documents consist of billing reports for all pending IBGP and SDF projects, along with copies of contract agreements, approved budgets, and proposed construction details for the nursery buildings in South Upi and Buluan, Maguindanao del Sur.

The turnover was spearheaded by Forester Judy B. Angkad, Development Management Officer III of Maguindanao del Norte, and formally received by Forester Sapalon K. Manalinding, Officer-in-Charge Development Management Officer III of Maguindanao del Sur. The event was witnessed by Forester Lauban S. Abdul, PENRE Officer – Maguindanao del Norte; Forester Datumama K. Makartur, Officer-in-Charge PENRE Officer – Maguindanao del Sur; Forester Faisal U. Akmad, CENRE Officer – Maguindanao del Norte; Sheryl L. Oclaman, Administrative Officer V – Maguindanao del Norte; Jehan A. Accoy, Officer-in-Charge Administrative Officer V – Maguindanao del Sur; Ellaf A. Nor, Accountant II – Maguindanao del Norte; and Saripha B. Macabago, CPA, Resident Auditor of PENREO Maguindanao.

Though Maguindanao now stands as two provinces, our shared commitment to environmental protection and public service remains united. This turnover is not just a transfer of projects but a continuation of one shared vision—serving the Bangsamoro people with integrity, dedication, and hope for a greener, more sustainable future.

💜 𝐌𝐄𝐍𝐑𝐄-Maguindanao Celebrates National Women’s Month 2025! 💜

The Ministry of Environment, Natural Resources, and Energy (MENRE) - Maguindanao, led by PENRE-Officer Lauban S. Abdul, proudly joined the National Women’s Month 2025 kick-off celebration held today, March 10, at SKCC, BARMM Complex, Bangsamoro Government Center, Barangay Rosary Heights 7, Cotabato City.

Dressed in purple hijabs and white shirts, MENRE Maguindanao employees stood alongside the Bangsamoro Women Commission and the nation in promoting gender equality and women empowerment.

This year’s theme, "Babae sa Lahat ng Sektor, Aangat ang Bukas sa Bagong Pilipinas", highlights the vital role of women in building a better society. By ensuring equal opportunities for women in all sectors, we contribute to a stronger, fairer, and more inclusive future.

MENRE Maguindanao proudly recognizes the essential role of women in environmental conservation. Achieving sustainable development requires breaking barriers and providing equal opportunities for all.

𝐌𝐄𝐍𝐑𝐄 𝐌𝐚𝐠𝐮𝐢𝐧𝐝𝐚𝐧𝐚𝐨 𝐏𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐨𝐧𝐧𝐞𝐥 𝐉𝐨𝐢𝐧 𝐌𝐄𝐍𝐑𝐄 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐂𝐨𝐋𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭 𝐢𝐧 𝐂𝐨𝐭𝐚𝐛𝐚𝐭𝐨 𝐂𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐂𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐧-𝐔𝐩 𝐃𝐫𝐢𝐯𝐞

The Ministry of Environment, Natural Resources, and Energy (MENRE), in collaboration with CoLight, successfully conducted a clean-up drive in Kalanganan II, Cotabato City, on January 25, 2025, under the Adopt-an-Estero Program (2024-2026). The initiative aims to improve water quality and promote proper waste management in the area. As part of the effort, A total of 20 trash bins were distributed, with 10 allocated to each Barangay Kalanganan II and Rosary Heights IX.

The event saw active participation from MENRE, local government units, the Aboitiz Foundation, the Philippine Marines, the Boy Scouts of the Philippines (BSP), and other key stakeholders. CENRE Officer from the 2nd District of Maguindanao Forester Datumama K. Makartur, Administrative Officer V of PENREO Maguindanao Sheryl L. Oclaman, along with foresters and Palaw Rangers, demonstrated their unwavering commitment to environmental sustainability.

This initiative underscores MENRE’s dedication to fostering a sustainable Bangsamoro region while inspiring collective action to protect and preserve the environment.
