COTABATO CITY (August 25, 2026)—The Bangsamoro Pilgrimage Authority benchmarked Islamic finance, legal, and institutional practices with key Muslim institutions from August 18 to 20 to help develop its proposed Waqf Fund, a Shari’ah-compliant initiative intended to support Hajj-related programs and services.

The mission included engagements with the Al-Amanah Islamic Investment Bank of the Philippines, Philippine Ulama Congress, Inc., and National Commission on Muslim Filipinos (NCMF). BPA examined Islamic finance, resource management, partnerships, and legal and regulatory requirements as references in developing the Waqf Fund.

During its engagement with Al-Amanah Bank, BPA studied Islamic finance practices related to the management and governance of the fund. The discussions also explored possible areas of cooperation on the initiative and BPA’s pilgrimage programs.

Discussions with NCMF emphasized the need for a clear legal basis and safeguards for managing resources under the fund, including proper oversight, accountability, and compliance with applicable government requirements.

BPA used the findings to strengthen its policy and legislative study and refine the proposed Waqf Fund legislation. The benchmarking also identified the need for consultations with relevant local and national government institutions as the proposal moves through the policy development process.

COTABATO CITY (August 12, 2026)—The Bangsamoro Pilgrimage Authority (BPA) and the National Commission on Muslim Filipinos (NCMF) aligned the timeline of key activities for Hajj 2027 during a courtesy visit on Tuesday, August 11.

NCMF Commissioner Joe Kasan outlined the major stages of preparation leading to the next pilgrimage season. The timeline covered coordination, documentation, pilgrim registration, and other Hajj-related activities.

The schedule also included succeeding activities for the preparation and orientation of pilgrims and Mashaikh, as well as coordination with concerned stakeholders to support the implementation of Hajj services.

‎The benchmarking visit provided BPA personnel with direct exposure to Malaysia's Hajj governance and service delivery mechanisms.

‎BPA personnel observed the operational systems of Lembaga Tabung Haji and TH Travel and engaged in technical discussions with Malaysian Hajj practitioners on governance, logistics, pilgrim welfare, and operational management. COTABATO CITY (July 27, 2026)—The Bangsamoro Pilgrimage Authority Management Committee convened its fifth regular meeting on Monday, July 27, to review updates on Hajj 2027 preparations, assess ongoing organizational initiatives, and discuss matters supporting the Authority's operational and institutional priorities.

‎COTABATO CITY (July 27, 2026)—The Bangsamoro Pilgrimage Authority enhanced the technical competencies of its personnel through the Hajj Operations & Management Excellence (HOME) Workshop from July 21 to 22 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

‎Conducted in partnership with Tawafuq Consultancy, the two-day program equipped participants with practical knowledge on Hajj governance, logistics, pilgrim care, and regulatory management.

‎It also covered Hajj management and logistics, including the organizational structure of Lembaga Tabung Haji, infrastructure and logistics management, pilgrim selection mechanisms, cost-effective Hajj operational models, and pilgrim management systems.

Participants took part in technical discussions and breakout sessions that examined operational approaches to Hajj administration.

COTABATO CITY (July 25, 2026) — The Bangsamoro Pilgrimage Authority (BPA) met with Member of Parliament Nurredha Misuari on Thursday, July 23, to discuss the Authority's Hajj initiatives and proposed Hajj-related legislation.

During the meeting, MP Misuari commended BPA's management of the previous Hajj operations and expressed support for the Authority's legislative proposals for submission to the Bangsamoro Parliament.
